Dallas connects to the rest of Texas through several highways:

  • Interstate 35 (I-35) splits into two routes north of the city at Denton, with I-35 E running through Dallas and I-35 W passing through Fort Worth. They merge again south of the city before reaching Waco.
  • Interstate 30 (I-30) connects downtown Dallas with the center of Fort Worth. It heads east and eventually reaches Little Rock, Arkansas.
  • Interstate 45 (I-45) is a 245-mile road that connects Dallas with Houston and ends on the island of Galveston – overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

It takes around 20 minutes (depending on traffic) to get from Reunion Tower to Dallas Forth Worth International Airport in your car rental.

  2. Follow I-35E North and TX-183 West to TX-97 Spur in Euless.

How old do I need to be to drive in Dallas?

  • You must be at least 18 years old to drive in Dallas.

 

How old do I need to be to rent a car in Dallas with Hertz?

  • You must be 20 years old to rent a car in Dallas with Hertz.
  • You’ll need a valid driver’s license and debit or credit card.
  • You’ll also need to pay a ‘Young Renter Daily Fee’.

 

Please note: Renters under 25 are excluded from renting Dream Car® collection, Prestige collection and the Adrenaline Collection®.

 

  • All drivers and passengers must wear seat belts in Dallas.
  • Children must be secured in a suitable car or booster seat.
  • Speed limits vary depending on the type of road you’re on. For example, rural freeways are 75, 80 or 85 mph on specified segments of road, while urban freeways, divided roads and undivided roads are 75 mph. The speed limit in residential areas is 55 mph.

Rush hour in Dallas starts from around 7am until 9:30am. In the afternoon traffic picks up from around 3pm until 6:30pm. For a more relaxing driving experience driving your rental car around Dallas – especially downtown – arrange your journeys around these times where possible.

To get to the Hertz car rental counter at Dallas Forth Worth International Airport, head to the lower level of the airport and take the car rental shuttle. To get to the Hertz rental counter at Dallas Love Field Airport, use the courtesy bus stop on the lower level.
