What is rental replacement reimbursement insurance and coverage?
Rental replacement reimbursement insurance covers your rental car expenses while your vehicle is in the shop getting repaired due to a car accident. If you believe you carry rental reimbursement on your insurance policy, reach out to your adjuster to confirm and have them set up a replacement rental for you.
Who pays for the rental after a car accident?
There are several options to consider for covering your rental expenses after an accident:
Your insurance policy may pay for some or all of your rental costs if it includes replacement vehicle coverage and depends on total policy limits.
You can discuss your car rental needs and options with the insurance adjuster, who can advise if the claim includes rental coverage from the other driver’s policy if you’re not at fault in the accident.
You may qualify for our lower insurance rates if you can provide documentation of the accident, proof of insurance, and are not filing an insurance claim. Standard rental qualifications will apply.
How does Hertz work with my insurance company to make sure everything goes smoothly during my rental?
Once in a replacement rental that is direct billing your insurance carrier, Hertz has many touchpoints to work with your insurance carrier to provide a seamless rental experience for you. If you have any questions regarding your replacement rental, please do not hesitate to contact your local rental branch. Please make sure to press 5 to get you directly to a local employee.
Once my insurance company makes a reservation, what do I need to do to get into the rental car?
Once we receive a reservation from your insurance company, we will contact you as soon as possible to start the process. During this conversation, we will ask you when your appointment is with the body shop, explain vehicle options, arrange pick up/drop-off, walk you through the rental experience, and answer as many questions for you as we can. *Remember, just because your insurance is paying for the rental, you still need a valid US driver’s license and a credit card to rent.
*Name on drivers license needs to match name on your credit card.
