Cleveland rush hour is typically from 7:30am until 8:30am, with the I-90 often busy. Outside of peak times, however, you will usually encounter relatively little congestion when driving your business or holiday rental car around the city.

Main Routes in Cleveland

  • I-90: This road takes you through the north of the city, alongside Lake Erie. It continues west to Chicago (and all the way as far as Seattle) and east toward Boston
  • I-77: Goes through the city from north to south, continuing down towards Charleston
  • I-71:  Comes in from the west towards the center of the city. It can take you to Columbus and down to Louisville and Kentucky

How to Get From Cleveland Hopkins Airport to Edgewater Park Beach

The beach is located in Cleveland, OH 44102 (between Memorial Shoreway – Route 2 and Lake Erie).

  1. Drive out of the car rental lot at Cleveland Airport and head north on the Berea Freeway
  2. Continue on the I-71 that becomes the Medina Freeway
  3. Take the exit towards Stockyards and then turn left on Denison Avenue
  4. Turn right onto West 65th Street and then turn left onto Detroit Avenue
  5. Turn right onto West 73rd Street and then over Cleveland Memorial Shoreway – and head into the park, where you’ll find the beach

 

Cleveland to Columbus

In Cleveland, you’re just over two hours away from the capital of Ohio. Take the I-71 south, which will take you all the way to the heart of Arch City.

 

Cleveland to Detroit

Looking to head over the border to Michigan? It’s just under three hours in your Cleveland rental car to Detroit. Take the I-90 heading west, followed by the I-280 north before joining the I-75 – skirting the shores of Lake Erie – which will take you right into Motor City.
