Useful tips when renting a car

Do you have a Hertz #1 Club membership? Don't forget to login at the top right corner of this page before you start making your reservation.

In order to prepay your reservation you need to have a credit card that is open to both Internet and abroad payments.

The name you specify when making your reservation must match the name on the credit card you pay with. The same credit card also needs to be presented at the location, when you pick up your rental car.

You can use most credit cards. Debit cards need to be connected to VISA or MasterCard. Electronic card may also be used when you prepay your rent (pay now), just remember that you need to present both the electronic card PLUS a valid bank or credit card at the time of pick-up.

There are certain age restrictions in some countries for rental holders under 25 years of age, also in some countries there is a charge applicable for those under the age of 25. Please check the conditions at the time of reservation.

If anyone else beside the person making the reservation will be driving the rental car, this person needs to be added as an Additional driver on the contract. There is an Additional driver fee per day (40 SEK per day in Sweden).

To add an additional driver he or she has to come along when you pick up the rental car and present a valid driver’s license for our Hertz staff.

The renter and any additional drivers must present a valid driver’s license, which has been held for at least 1 year.

If you do not arrive at the specified pick-up location for the rental within an hour of the specified pick-up time, the reservation will expire. If you will be arriving later you need to contact Hertz as soon as possible.

Please remember that it is your responsibility – as a driver and renter – to find out about the traffic laws in the country you are visiting. That includes everything from fees or restrictions for road tolls, bridges, parking, restricted areas, speed limits etcetera.
