The best viewpoints at Le Mans

With over 13km of track and 24 hours of non-stop racing, there’s no shortage of places to catch the action at Le Mans. From iconic straights to technical corners, each section of the Circuit de la Sarthe offers something different. Whether you’re here for the atmosphere, the overtakes or the perfect photo, these are the top spots to watch the race unfold.

Start/finish straight

This is where the drama begins—and ends. Sitting in the grandstands here means you’ll hear the roar of the crowd as the lights go out, and feel the tension rise again in the final laps. The view of pit stops, team celebrations and the chequered flag makes it one of the most electric places to be. Covered seating is available, but it fills fast, especially at peak moments.

Dunlop Curve and Bridge

Just after the start line, the cars sweep into the Dunlop Curve and under the iconic bridge. It’s a fan favourite for good reason. You can watch from the grandstands or cross the footbridge for a view from the grassy banks. It’s also a brilliant place for photography, especially at golden hour or under the glow of the night lights.

Tertre Rouge

If you want to feel the full force of a car accelerating onto a straight, head to Tertre Rouge. This fast right-hander is where the cars blast out onto the Mulsanne. It’s loud, fast and close to the action—with no grandstand here, just the open air and the thunder of engines flying past.

Mulsanne Straight

The fastest section of the track doesn’t offer much in the way of general access, but if you’ve got a VIP pass, it’s worth seeking out. Watching cars hit 200 mph down this stretch is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment—but it’s unforgettable.

Mulsanne Corner

After all that speed, Mulsanne Corner brings the cars to an abrupt halt. This tight right-hander is a hotspot for late braking, lock-ups and overtakes gone wrong. You’ll need to hop on a shuttle or drive to reach it, but the payoff is big: this is one of the most exciting places to catch the action after dark.

Indianapolis and Arnage

Two of the trickiest corners on the circuit, and a magnet for fans. The transition from the fast Indianapolis curve into the sharp Arnage bend is where races are won—or lost. There’s a big viewing area, a screen to follow the rest of the race, and refreshment stands to keep you going.

Porsche Curves

This sweeping series of bends is all about precision. From the spectator areas on the outside of the track, you can watch drivers thread the needle lap after lap. It’s a favourite spot for campers and fills up early—so if you’re staying nearby, claim your space ahead of time.

Maison Blanche

Just before the Ford Chicane, this section offers a solid view of cars preparing for the final push. It’s not the widest or clearest area, but it makes up for that with atmosphere. The funfair and Ferris wheel nearby add a festive feel, especially after dark.

Ford Chicane

This is the last test before the lap ends—and the grandstand here gives you a perfect seat. From aggressive lunges to weary mistakes after hours behind the wheel, you’ll see it all. It’s popular, so arrive early to grab a spot with the best angle.
