  1. Driver’s Licence Requirements

ü   At time of rental, the renter must present a valid driver's licence issued from country of residence. Renters must also provide a valid Passport along with an International driving permit with their country of origin licence.

ü   Renters from Japan must provide their passport along with local driving licence with a Chinese translation by JAF or the Japan Taiwan exchange association. An International Driving Permit is not acceptable.

ü   Renters from Hong Kong and Macao must provide their Passport along with their local driving licence.

ü   Residents from Mainland China may not drive in Taiwan.

ü   Residents of Austria cannot drive in Taiwan.

  1. Individuals who are going to stay in Taiwan for more than 30 days should apply to register an international driving permit with the Motor Vehicle Offices.

Required Documents:Alien Resident Card (ARC) or passport, valid international driving permit, valid native driving license and ID photo (size 3cm x 2.5xm, taken within 2 years).

  • To comply with the insurance company’s deductible policy, the renter is required to provide the police report in the event of any accident or damage to the vehicle. Failure to provide a valid police report shall render the renter liable for the full cost of repairing any damage or for any losses arising from the accident, regardless of the applicable deductible amount.

  • Collision Damage Insurance:Excluding damage arising from DUI, unidentified damage, rental agreement violations, and activities not covered by insurance, the renter is responsible for a maximum self-deductible of NT$20,000 for car groups A/B/C/E/F/K/L/O and NT$50,000 for car group M or electric vehicles (EVs). (Note 1). Unless the vehicle is deemed beyond repair, in which case the renter is responsible for 50% of the vehicle's value for domestic vehicles, or 70% for vehicles in car group M or electric vehicles.
  • Theft Insurance:The maximum amount the Renter shall compensate is 50% for a domestic vehicle or 70% for vehicles in car group M or electric vehicles. (Note 1)
  • Driver/Passenger Insurance:Up to NT$2,000,000 per person. (Coverage is not applicable if the number of passengers exceeds the capacity stated in the vehicle registration.)
  • Basic Third Party Liability:Bodily injury compensation Up to NT$200,000/NT$2,000,000 per person death (government required)
  • Additional Third Party Liability:Up to NT$2,000,000/person. The accident up to NT$4,000,000 and property damage up to NT$500,000.
  • The above insurance policy does not cover damages or losses arising from natural disasters or severe weather (such as typhoons, earthquakes, floods, etc.), or any damage to the equipment on the vehicles.
  • Note1:During the period of car repair or when the car is stolen, any business loss shall be the customer's responsibility. Compensation is limited to a maximum of 20 days' rental based on the car's daily rate.
