At its core, the Hertz Ultimate Choice program is a pretty simple idea. Why pay for us to choose the car you drive around in? Sure, you’ve always got to decide the size and your budget before, but now you can not only pick the make, model and color… you get to pick the actual car.

Getting to choose your specific car rental puts you in charge. And allows you to pick a vehicle you’re confident with because you’ve driven it before. Or, if you like variety, you can jump in a brand-new model you’ve always wanted to try out.

It’s not just about novelty, though. There are often practical reasons why you might want some flexibility over the vehicle you’re driving. Plans can change. You may find yourself needing something slightly different from your car rental than you did when you first made the booking. Ultimate Choice gives you that flexibility.

How Ultimate Choice works

It's nice and easy to get started with Ultimate Choice. Firstly, you'll need to sign up for our Gold Plus Rewards program. Don't worry if you're not yet a member, it only takes a few minutes to fill in the necessary forms online. And it's entirely free. You'll be assigned a Gold Member number - so take note of it.

Now make a reservation. It’s worth noting that Ultimate Choice is only available at our airport locations. But we have a huge number of these, all across the country. You’ll also need to book using a credit card. To take advantage of Ultimate Choice, the rental car you reserve must be at least mid-size (economy and compact cars aren't included in the program). Make sure that you include your Hertz Gold Member number when booking.

When you arrive at your Hertz location, ignore the line, go straight to the zone assigned to you when you reserved and have a look at the cars available to you. Feel free to take your time. Choose one that's perfect for you, based on your tastes and needs. Nothing catching your eye? Try looking in the Premium Upgrades zone, it might just be worth the small daily surcharge.

Found your new temporary car? Great. Get in and drive up to the exit gate, we'll have someone waiting for you. Show our staff member your driving license, confirm your booking, answer a quick couple of questions and drive away! It's as easy as that.

Once you’ve booked five reservations like this in a year, you’ll be eligible for Five Star status, giving you access to an improved range. Hit 20 in the twelve-month period and you enter our exclusive President’s Circle level, offering up larger and much more exciting vehicles for the exact same price.

The main beneift of Ultimate Choice is that it gives you more rental car options. Being able to pick the thing you want from an offered selection of anything is much more fun. It’s also great for anyone pragmatic enough to know that when things change, it’s good to be able to change with them.
