How to Get From Richmond to Norfolk

It takes around 90 minutes to reach Norfolk in your rental car from Richmond.

  1. Take I-64 E from the city center for around 85 miles.
  2. Pass through Newport News and Hampton.
  3. Travel through the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.
  4. Use the right two lanes to take exit 277A.
  5. Join Tidewater Drive (VA-168) and emerge in central Norfolk.

 

How to Get From Richmond to Charlottesville

Charlottesville, home of the University of Virginia and several buildings designed by Thomas Jefferson, is approximately an hour away by rental car from Richmond. Simply use the I-95 to exit the city and join I-64 West. Stay on this route for almost 70 miles then take exit 121 to join Monticello Avenue. Turn right onto Avon Street to arrive in central Charlottesville.
