Driving In and Around Santa Fe

  • Railyard Municipal Garage (87501) is an underground parking lot that contains more than 400 spots for your car rental, close to the Santa Fe Depot.
  • Sandoval Municipal Garage (87501) has over 375 spaces available on W San Francisco Street, a couple of blocks from the Plaza.
  • Railyard Surface Municipal Lot (87501) is open 24/7 with more than 300 spaces, halfway between De Vargas Park and the Railyard Park.

 

  • Interstate 25 (I-25) is a mostly rural route that connects the city with Albuquerque in the south and Colorado Springs and Denver in the north. Exploring the area becomes easier with a car rental from our Santa Fe Hertz branch.
  • U.S. Route 285 (US-285) runs through the outskirts of Santa Fe, concurrent with US-84 and I-25, on its way through Carson National Forest north and into Texas south.
  • U.S. Route 84 (US-84) begins in Colorado, running east through New Mexico and merges with the I-25 northbound.

 

How to get from Santa Fe to Albuquerque

It takes less than an hour to drive the 62 miles from Santa Fe to Albuquerque with your holiday or business car rental.

  1. Leave Cerrilos Road, heading north-east towards St Michaels Drive.
  2. Turn right onto St Michaels Drive.
  3. Turn right onto the slip road to I-25/Las Vegas/Albuquerque/Clines Corners.
  4. Merge onto US-84 East / St Francis Drive / US Highway 285 South.
  5. Slight right to merge onto I-25 south towards Albuquerque.
  6. Follow I-25 south to Lead Avenue Southeast in Albuquerque.
  7. Take Exit 224A from I-25 South.

 

How to get from Santa Fe to Taos 

Taos is just one hour, twenty minutes from Santa Fe. Simply hop in your rental car and take West San Francisco Street and NM-68 out of the city center. Stay on the route for almost 70 miles as it becomes US-84 East and remain on the route all the way into central Taos.
