In 1996, Chevrolet under , General Motors released the EV1 a groundbreaking all-electric vehicle that enhanced some of the pioneering features of the time – including keyless ignition, low rolling-resistance tires and regenerative braking.

The EV1 came to an end in 1999, but from it sprung a plethora of EV opportunities for Chevrolet. Chevrolet released its second electric model, the S-10, in 1997, ushering in the first of its EV pickups marketed toward utility fleet customers.

The S-10 EV could travel up to 60 miles on a single charge and could achieve top speeds of 70 miles per hour. This vehicle truly revolutionized the idea of what an EV could be.

2015 ushered in Chevrolet’s first all-electric vehicle – the compact Spark – a sporty EV with a maximum range of 82 miles on a single charge and 327 lb-ft of torque.

But undoubtedly, one of Chevrolet’s most renowned EVs is the Chevy Bolt, debuting in 2015 with an impressive range of 200 miles on a single charge. Highly efficient and luxurious in design, the Chevy Bolt represented the revolution that was to come.

Today, Chevrolet’s impressive EV lineup features a host of options, including the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV available to rent with Hertz.
