When it comes to Hertz rental car fuel options, we make it easy and leave the decision up to you. Our prices are competitive with local pump prices when you prepay, or, we can refuel for you. When you travel at the speed of Hertz, your refueling option is your choice.

1. What is the Fuel Purchase Option (FPO) and how does it work?
For convenience, you may purchase a full tank of fuel from Hertz at the time of rental, at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations. This method eliminates the need for you to refill the tank before returning. Please, be aware that we are unable to give a refund for unused fuel. Some exceptions may apply. See rental terms for details.
2. Does the car come with a full tank of fuel?
Majority of vehicles will be provided with a fuel tank of fuel. Hertz rates do not include fuel.
3. What if I don’t use the full tank?
We do not provide refunds for unused fuel. Some exceptions may apply. See rental terms for details.
4. Is the gasoline price per gallon similar to local gas stations?
Yes, our prices are competitive with local pump prices.
5. What is the Refueling Service Charge (FSC)?
If you do not choose our Prepaid Fuel option and do not return the vehicle with a fuel tank of fuel, we will fill the tank for you and charge you for the costs we incur and the service we provide in doing so.

When you rent an electric vehicle from Hertz, we want to make sure you have options for recharging. Note! You never have to return your EV with more than 75% charge in the battery.

1. What is EV Purchase Option (EVPO) and how does it work?
You may purchase the charge level in the battery from Hertz at the time of rental, at a price that is similar to local charging stations per kWh, plus a small convenience fee. This eliminates the need for you to recharge the battery before returning — you can bring it back at any battery level!
Please, be aware that we are unable to give a refund for unused fuel.
2. Does the car come with a full battery?
EV batteries work best between 80-20% charge, so we strive to have our EVs at 80% at pickup.
3. What if I don’t use the full charge?
We do not provide refunds for unused or excess charge left in the battery.
4. Is the energy cost per kwh similar to local charging stations?
Our EVPO prices are similar to local charging stations, while our EVSC prices will be higher than EVPO.
5. What is the Electric Vehicle Service Charge?
If you do not choose our EV Purchase option and do not return the vehicle within 5% of the battery level at pick up, we will recharge the battery for you and charge you for difference in battery at the time of pick up and return per kwh with a service fee included.
