Car Rental - Hsinchu High Speed Rail

1. Driver’s Licence Requirements

ü   At time of rental, the renter must present a valid driver's licence issued from country of residence. Renters must also provide a valid Passport along with an International driving permit with their country of origin licence.

ü   Renters from Japan must provide their passport along with local driving licence with a Chinese translation by JAF or the Japan Taiwan exchange association. An International Driving Permit is not acceptable.

ü   Renters from Hong Kong and Macao must provide their Passport along with their local driving licence.

ü   Residents from Mainland China may not drive in Taiwan.

ü   Residents of Austria cannot drive in Taiwan.

1. Individuals who are going to stay in Taiwan for more than 30 days should apply to register an international driving permit with the Motor Vehicle Offices.

Required Documents：Alien Resident Card (ARC) or passport, valid international driving permit, valid native driving license and ID photo (size 3cm x 2.5xm, taken within 2 years).

1.  Collision Damage Insurance：Excluding damage arising from DUI, unidentified damage, rental agreement violations, and activities not covered by insurance, the renter is responsible for a maximum self-deductible of NT$15,000 for car groups A/B/C/E/F/K/L/O and NT$50,000 for car group M or electric vehicles (EVs). (Note 1). Unless vehicle is beyond repair in which renter is responsible for 10% (domestic vehicle) or 20% (imported vehicle) of vehicle value.

2.  Theft Insurance：90% of car market value; customers shall be responsible for 10% of car market value. (Note 1)

3.  Driver/Passenger Insurance：Up to TWD $2,000,000 per person

4.  Basic Third Party Liability：Up to NT$2,000,000 per person death (government required)

5.  Additional Third Party Liability：Up to NT$2,000,000/person ( Up to NT$4,000,000), Up to NT$500,000 on property loss/accident

6.  The above insurance policy does not include damages or loss arisen from natural disasters or severe weather (typhoon, earthquake, floods, etc.), or any damage to the equipment on the vehicles.

7.  Note1：During the car repair or the period of car stolen, the operating loss shall be the customer's responsibility. The compensation is up to 20 day's rental on the car's daily rate.
