DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Japanese law requires that all drivers who do not hold a Japanese driver’s license must hold a country of origin driver's license and an international driving permit issued under the 1949 convention on international road traffic. No other International Driver Permit will be accepted for rentals in Japan. IDP must be issued as physical IDP in booklet. No Digital IDP or paper license IDP either is acceptable.

The only International Driving Permit Acceptable must have the A/B/C/D/E stamps fields.

Special arrangements for BE, FR, GE, MONACO, SZ, & TAIWAN

For customers with driver's licenses issued from a list of countries, if the customer cannot obtain an International Driving Permit issued under the 1949 Convention on International Road Traffic, they may obtain an official translation of their home country license from their countries embassies/consulates/authorised organisation located in Japan. However, this translation must be obtained by the renter prior to the rental. No exceptions.

INSURANCE AND OTHER COVERAGES

DEW: If DEW is included in rate, DEW reduces the Non-Waivable Excess to Zero.

If DEW is not included in rate, the Non-Waivable Excess applies.
Non-Waivable Excess: JPY 50,000

The customer still needs to pay the Non-Operation charge JPY 20,000 or 50,000 depending on the damage

Liability Coverage: Third party property damage up to the following amount;

Per accident: Unlimited

Non-waivable excess in the following amount: JPY 50,000.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI):

Personal injury: Personal injury for all passengers including the renter up to JPY 30,000,000.00 per person, no excess.

Non-operation Charge (NOC)

In the event of an accident, car theft or damage/stain to a car – if it needs to be repaired and/or cleaned, a fee will be charged as part of compensation for business lost during the time of repairing/cleaning.

If the customer is able to drive the car to the original location of intended return, the NOC will be following flat fee:

JPY 20,000

If the car cannot be driven by the customer to the original location of intended return, the NOC will be the following flat fee:

JPY 50,000

DEW does not waive NOC

The NOC will be waived only if the renter can provide a police report which states that the damage caused to the vehicle was 100% no fault of the renter.

Double Protection Package

This option reduces NOC (Non operation charge) to Zero.

DPP is available to purchase with JPY 500 per day excl Tax at time of pick-up.
