Rent a car in Bunbury

Tucked away in the idyllic Southwest corner of Australia, the coastal city of Bunbury is a hidden gem just waiting to be explored. No longer just a port town, Bunbury has transformed itself into a lively, friendly, and welcoming city located on the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. From its white sandy beaches, vibrant cultural scene and stunning natural surroundings, this buzzing city has plenty to offer visitors to the region. So, what are you waiting for? Jump in your Hertz rental and get ready to explore this beautiful part of the state.

Hidden gem of the South West

Hertz Bunbury is conveniently located just a five-minute drive from the airport, and a 10-minute drive from the centre of town, making it the ideal place to start your travels. After picking up your rental car, you’ll want to head into the centre of town, where you’ll be greeted by gorgeous beaches, a cosmopolitan shopping district and a rich arts and culture scene.

Start with a stroll around town, where you’ll find quirky and charming independent shops, cafes, and bars at every turn. For a delicious brunch and coffee that will rival some of Melbourne’s top cafes, make a stop at Benesee on Victoria Street, one of Bunbury’s favourites. After you’ve had your fix of buttermilk pancakes, artisan toast or chilli eggs, head off to explore the city's streets where you’ll discover an array of public artworks and murals - the largest collection in regional Australia - that reflect and represent the city's rich history and creativity. Bunbury Regional Art Galleries is Western Australia’s largest regional gallery boasting four exhibition spaces and a diverse program of works by local and national artists.

Just a stone’s throw away from the centre of town is the gorgeous Koombana Bay, home to a picturesque beach that is just perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or enjoying a leisurely stroll along the shoreline. While you’re here, keep an eye out for the friendly local dolphins that often play in the bay. Visit the Dolphin Discovery centre, where you can embark on a dolphin cruise to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. As the sun starts to dip low on the horizon, take a drive up to Marlston Hill Lookout to catch a golden sunset, with sweeping views over the town and along the coast.

Foodies will appreciate Bunbury’s fine selection of top-notch restaurants, intimate bars, and fantastic local produce. Market Eating House on Victoria Street is a top pick in town, with a high quality, Middle Eastern inspired seasonal menu representing the best of the region. The restaurant sets the scene and atmosphere for a fine dining experience in Bunbury. If you’re after Australian fare in a relaxed and modern setting, Mojo’s Kitchen and Bar is a local favourite, with an inventive, modern menu and excellent drink selection. Just ensure that if you do enjoy a drink or two on a night out, that you nominate a designated driver. If you’re staying locally, Quest Bunbury is conveniently located on Koombana Bay and just minutes from town, the perfect place to base yourself for all your Bunbury adventures.

Exploring Bunbury’s Backyard

No visit to Bunbury can be considered complete without adventuring into the surrounding regions, full of stunning natural beauty, quaint towns, vineyards, and fertile valleys. It’s always worth putting in the effort to explore Bunbury’s beautiful backyard, so you’ll want to pack up your Hertz rental car and hit the road. The South West corner of Western Australia is one of the most fertile regions in the country, a lush pocket of green where you’ll find idyllic destinations such as the Ferguson Valley, Collie River Valley, Preston Valley, and Blackwood valleys.

Travelling through the region, you’ll discover quaint historic towns and villages such as Balingup, Donnybrook and Collie. The food and wine of the South West certainly punch above their weight, so while you’re out and about, check out some of the region’s finest boutique wineries and cellar doors for tastings. Willow Bridge Estate is an incredibly picturesque winery just 20 minutes out of Bunbury, widely considered one of the best in the area and the perfect place to get a taste of the region’s wine scene.

Bunbury is a city that is constantly reinventing itself. No longer just a port town or stop over on your way down the coast, this vibrant, energetic, and youthful city is ready to welcome you with open arms. This coastal gem has something to offer everyone; whether you’re simply here to relax and enjoy the beaches, hit the town to experience its cosmopolitan flair, or chase high-adrenaline adventures, you’ll find it all and more in Bunbury.

Fuel & Electrical Recharging Policy

Fuel is not included in your rental rate. Your vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel or if the tank is not full, we will provide you with credit for the missing fuel and you can decide how you wish to pay for the fuel you use during your rental. You have the following options:

Buy a full tank at the start …

  • Often referred to as our Fuel Purchase Option (FPO).
  • If you purchase a full tank of fuel from us at the start of your rental, you will not need to refill the tank before returning and will have nothing more to pay for fuel.
  • This is a good option for high kilometre journeys where you are likely to use a full tank.

Buy a half tank at the start….

  • It may be more convenient to pay for a half tank of fuel at the start of the rental and save time on refuelling by returning the vehicle with only a half a tank of fuel.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys where you are more likely to use less fuel.
  •

FUEL PURCHASE OPTION (FPO)

We charge you at the start of your rental for a full tank of fuel at a price competitive with local fuel stations. You will have nothing more to pay to us for your fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

HALF TANK OPTION

We charge you at the start of your rental for a half tank of fuel at a competitive price with local fuel stations and return with only half a tank of fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

Return with a full tank …

  • Return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel purchased from a local fuel station.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys.

IMPORTANT: Fuel gauges may still indicate that the tank is “full” many kilometres after it was last re-filled. To deal with this, we ask you to refill the tank within 15 km of the return location and bring your fuel receipt with you when returning the Vehicle. We ask you to present a copy of the fuel receipt to a Hertz employee or leave a copy in the Vehicle. If you do not do so, we reserve the right to apply a small charge – please ask at the counter for details.

…..or without refuelling

  • A good option if you are in a hurry, did not take FPO or a Half Tank of fuel and do not have time to refill the tank on return.

REFUELLING SERVICE CHARGE: We will charge you a price per litre to refill the tank. These prices are indicated on your Rental Agreement.

EV Battery Recharging Service Fee

You are liable for any reduction in battery charge percentage from when you picked up your EV to when you returned it (no refund will be provided if this figure is higher, upon return). If we are required to recharge the EV to return it to its battery departure level, we will charge you a price per kilo watt (kW), as detailed on your Rental Agreement.

EV Low Battery Recharging Service Fee

If you return the vehicle at 15% battery charge level or less, we will charge an additional recharging service fee, as detailed on your Rental Agreement.
