Port Macquarie Airport

Welcome to Port Macquarie

Port Macquarie Airport connects the historic resort city of Port Macquarie to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Once you touch down you’ll find yourself surrounded by more than seventeen beautiful beaches and a host of other attractions to enjoy. Enjoyed for its stable temperate climate and vibrant local community, Port Macquarie is a place you will want to really explore – so you’ll need some wheels. Take your pick of the Hertz fleet, and you’ll soon be on your way, with the airport an easy ten-minute drive to the centre of town.

The north coast of New South Wales is widely regarded to be one of the most beautiful places on earth with lots to see and do, and Port Macquarie is your gateway to it all. The town itself is a vibrant place to be, with plenty of shops, galleries and beautiful public buildings to explore. If you’re into local history then don’t miss a visit to Port Macquarie Museum, which boasts a significant fourteen-room collection with regular themed events – as one of the earliest convict settlements outside of Sydney this is a town with a lot of history to share.

Just out of town you can find Bago Maze and Winery – the two-metre high hedge mage is the perfect place to get lost, and once you’ve found your way out again the fine dining of the cellar door awaits you so you can enjoy a charcuterie plate overlooking the beautiful vineyards. If you prefer something a bit more sports focused, Port Macquarie also boasts a roller-skating rink, a paintball arena and numerous deep-sea fishing charters so you can have all the adventure you craze on your trip.

With the freedom of your hire car you can also explore Port Macquarie’s surrounds with ease – just ten minutes out of town by car you can go to the Port Macquarie Horse Riding Centre that offers all kinds of trail rides through the very scenic Cassegrain Winery Estate – a perfect way to spend a few hours.

Immerse yourself in some real country charm when you travel 20 minutes west of Port Macquarie to the pastoral wonderland of Camden Haven, surrounded by the beautiful green rolling hills of the hinterland. Let the kids out of the car to stretch their legs lie on the lush grass while you enjoy a “farm to table” dining experience. The Camden Haven River has a netted tidal pool if you want to cool off, and the pristine waters are inviting year round. You can continue your drive towards the impressive North Brother Mountain to lush Laurieton, famous for their Riverwalk market and fascinating boutiques. This whole area is dotted with unique villages, and with the flexibility and ease of your hire car, you’ll be able to explore them all to your heart's content. Laurieton is 40 minutes south of Port Macquarie Airport. Eat locally harvested oysters at this gorgeous village by Camden Haven River and stay in the Crowdy Bay National Park at Diamond Head campground.

Surfers should head to Crescent Head, a tiny speck on the coast just 50 minutes’ drive north of Port Macquarie Airport. This little town is a national surf reserve surrounded by a marine park and has one of the best longboard surf breaks in Australia – it’s home to the famous Malibu Classic competition every May but the rest of the year even non-champions can surf some of the best waves in the world. For the non-surfers in the party there an impressive golf course and the beautiful Goolawah National Park which has walking trails, picnic areas and camping sites right on the beach for you to enjoy.

Hire a Hertz car from Port Macquarie Airport and let your adventures begin.

Digital Driver License

Fuel & Electrical Recharging Policy

Fuel is not included in your rental rate. Your vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel or if the tank is not full, we will provide you with credit for the missing fuel and you can decide how you wish to pay for the fuel you use during your rental. You have the following options:

Buy a full tank at the start …

  • Often referred to as our Fuel Purchase Option (FPO).
  • If you purchase a full tank of fuel from us at the start of your rental, you will not need to refill the tank before returning and will have nothing more to pay for fuel.
  • This is a good option for high kilometre journeys where you are likely to use a full tank.

Buy a half tank at the start….

  • It may be more convenient to pay for a half tank of fuel at the start of the rental and save time on refuelling by returning the vehicle with only a half a tank of fuel.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys where you are more likely to use less fuel.
  •

FUEL PURCHASE OPTION (FPO)

We charge you at the start of your rental for a full tank of fuel at a price competitive with local fuel stations. You will have nothing more to pay to us for your fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

HALF TANK OPTION

We charge you at the start of your rental for a half tank of fuel at a competitive price with local fuel stations and return with only half a tank of fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

Return with a full tank …

  • Return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel purchased from a local fuel station.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys.

IMPORTANT: Fuel gauges may still indicate that the tank is “full” many kilometres after it was last re-filled. To deal with this, we ask you to refill the tank within 15 km of the return location and bring your fuel receipt with you when returning the Vehicle. We ask you to present a copy of the fuel receipt to a Hertz employee or leave a copy in the Vehicle. If you do not do so, we reserve the right to apply a small charge – please ask at the counter for details.

…..or without refuelling

  • A good option if you are in a hurry, did not take FPO or a Half Tank of fuel and do not have time to refill the tank on return.

REFUELLING SERVICE CHARGE: We will charge you a price per litre to refill the tank. These prices are indicated on your Rental Agreement.

EV Battery Recharging Service Fee

You are liable for any reduction in battery charge percentage from when you picked up your EV to when you returned it (no refund will be provided if this figure is higher, upon return). If we are required to recharge the EV to return it to its battery departure level, we will charge you a price per kilo watt (kW), as detailed on your Rental Agreement.

EV Low Battery Recharging Service Fee

If you return the vehicle at 15% battery charge level or less, we will charge an additional recharging service fee, as detailed on your Rental Agreement.
