Enchanting and alluring, the charming hinterland town Lismore is the perfect destination for those seeking a little inspiration and relaxation. Perfectly positioned at the heart of the Rainbow Region, bounded by rainforest and the ocean, Lismore is a special town unlike any other. Boasting stunning views, a rich sense of spirituality and connection to an ancient land, Lismore boasts an idyllic blend of old and new, with a rich sense of local culture and community. If you’re ready for an enchanting escape to the Northern Rivers, you’ll want to jump in your Hertz rental car and take yourself on a journey through this pocket of paradise.

A Serene Riverside Town

If you’re arriving by plane, Lismore is a fantastic starting point for journeys right across the Northern Rivers, and the gateway to the wider region. Once you’ve secured your Hertz rental car from Lismore Airport, you’re ready to make the short drive into the heart of town. Situated on a sweeping bend of Wilsons River, the picturesque town centre of Lismore hugs its lush banks. With a range of cultural attractions, dining options and a thriving art scene, the town is just brimming with unique things to see and do. Start your time in town off with a visit to the excellent Lismore Regional Gallery. This quaint regional gallery is the cultural hub of the region - a versatile and innovative gallery showcasing a program of exhibitions from local and international artists. The town’s artistic flair also extends well beyond the walls of the gallery - if you enjoyed the exhibitions, you’ll enjoy the riverside public art trail. This leisurely walk provides the perfect way to acquaint yourself with the Lismore spirit.

While you’re in town, spend some time perusing the many eclectic shops for which Lismore is well known - it’s easy to spend a morning wandering the main street perusing funky boutiques and arcades. Retro, vintage and antique items take centre stage here, however you’ll also be sure to pick up the creations of local artisans – fine wares, clothing and epicurean delights are top picks when visiting the town, and you may well be tempted to pick up something truly unique. If you’ve worked up an appetite while out and about in town, head to Bank Cafe and Espresso for a delicious brunch, light lunch and smooth coffee.

Let Nature Set The Pace

After spending some time exploring the centre of Lismore, you’ll want to leave the town in your rear-view mirror and hit the open road to experience the true magic and beauty of the Northern Rivers. Your Hertz rental car is the best way to get around the region at your own leisure -  and this is one road trip that you won’t want to rush.

At the southern rim of the ancient Mount Warning (Wollumbin) shield volcano, the fertile lands and rolling hills that surround Lismore are dotted with quaint rural hamlets, macadamia and coffee plantations and hidden valleys enshrouded with mystical rainforest.  Take a drive out to Nightcap National Park, where you’ll be surrounded by lush ancient rainforests, thundering waterfalls and imposing escarpments. If you’re feeling adventurous, strap your boots on and head out to Protestors Falls Circuit. Perhaps you’d prefer something a little bit more leisurely - Minyon Falls lookout will reward you with breathtaking views from the top of the falls, without the hike! On your travels, spend some time exploring the many quaint villages and hamlets of the region. Each community has something to offer, whether it’s charming local cafes, a farmers or art market, an arty main street or a rustic pub. A drive through the hinterland is like a trip back in time, and unlike anywhere else. You might not get mobile service around these parts, but that’s all part of its old-world charm. Forget about the outside world, relax and enjoy the journey.

Set in such beautiful surrounds, Lismore is a must-visit for anyone looking to spend some time in pristine nature. A trip to this captivating place is sure to leave you renewed and revitalised, inside and out. Whether you’re here to soak up some art and culture, or wanting to relax and recharge your batteries, this slice of paradise is sure to leave a lasting impression and leave you wanting more.

Fuel & Electrical Recharging Policy

Fuel is not included in your rental rate. Your vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel or if the tank is not full, we will provide you with credit for the missing fuel and you can decide how you wish to pay for the fuel you use during your rental. You have the following options:

Buy a full tank at the start …

  • Often referred to as our Fuel Purchase Option (FPO).
  • If you purchase a full tank of fuel from us at the start of your rental, you will not need to refill the tank before returning and will have nothing more to pay for fuel.
  • This is a good option for high kilometre journeys where you are likely to use a full tank.

Buy a half tank at the start….

  • It may be more convenient to pay for a half tank of fuel at the start of the rental and save time on refuelling by returning the vehicle with only a half a tank of fuel.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys where you are more likely to use less fuel.
  •

FUEL PURCHASE OPTION (FPO)

We charge you at the start of your rental for a full tank of fuel at a price competitive with local fuel stations. You will have nothing more to pay to us for your fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

HALF TANK OPTION

We charge you at the start of your rental for a half tank of fuel at a competitive price with local fuel stations and return with only half a tank of fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

Return with a full tank …

  • Return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel purchased from a local fuel station.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys.

IMPORTANT: Fuel gauges may still indicate that the tank is “full” many kilometres after it was last re-filled. To deal with this, we ask you to refill the tank within 15 km of the return location and bring your fuel receipt with you when returning the Vehicle. We ask you to present a copy of the fuel receipt to a Hertz employee or leave a copy in the Vehicle. If you do not do so, we reserve the right to apply a small charge – please ask at the counter for details.

…..or without refuelling

  • A good option if you are in a hurry, did not take FPO or a Half Tank of fuel and do not have time to refill the tank on return.

REFUELLING SERVICE CHARGE: We will charge you a price per litre to refill the tank. These prices are indicated on your Rental Agreement.

EV Battery Recharging Service Fee

You are liable for any reduction in battery charge percentage from when you picked up your EV to when you returned it (no refund will be provided if this figure is higher, upon return). If we are required to recharge the EV to return it to its battery departure level, we will charge you a price per kilo watt (kW), as detailed on your Rental Agreement.

EV Low Battery Recharging Service Fee

If you return the vehicle at 15% battery charge level or less, we will charge an additional recharging service fee, as detailed on your Rental Agreement.
