Guide to Mercedes EVs

With electrical vehicles starting to grow in popularity, there are more and more manufacturers taking note and stepping up their EV production. Mercedes is ramping up its EV range, with around eight cars currently in production and plans for more in the future. In this guide we’ll discuss some of the Mercedes EVs on offer, who they are suited for and some of their future ideas to look forward to.

All about Mercedes

Mercedes-Benz as it is known now was created as a subsidiary of Daimler AG in 2019, but the Mercedes brand has been around since the late 1800s. The first Mercedes petrol automobile was created and marketed in 1901. Mercedes is notable for giving its cars certain classes and having models within that class. Over the years, the manufacturer has introduced a variety of notable models, including the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The first electric vehicle that Mercedes produced was the EQC SUV in 2019. In 2023, Daimler announced that every Mercedes-Benz will have a fully-electric or hybrid version available on the market from 2025. Mercedes has a wide range of electric vehicles, including sporty two-seaters, hatchbacks and SUVs in the lineup and with more to follow.

The Mercedes-Benz range of EVs is perfectly suited for families who want to upgrade their current vehicle to something spacious that has the range they need to get between various sports and after-school clubs, as well as cope with business trips and the daily commute.

Mercedes EQA SUV

The A-Class has had an electric upgrade with the EQA, first released in 2021 with three options available; the AMG Line, the AMG Line Premium and the AMG Line Premium Plus. The main selling points for the EQA are that it has a rapid charge of up to 80 per cent battery in just 32 minutes. It has a 360’ camera for parking, a complete multimedia centre and slick interior detailing.

Here's a look at some details and specs for the EQA SUV:

• Vehicle Type – SUV.
• Iterations – There has been one iteration of the EQA so far.
• Range – A range of 316 miles, 190hp/140kW for the EQA250+ going up to 292 hp/215kW with a range of 257-268 miles for the EQA 350 4Matic.
• Capacity – The Mercedes EQA offers 12cu ft of trunk space, and 46.6cu ft of cargo space with the seats down.

As an SUV, this is perfect for those who want a larger car but with electric capabilities. As one of the more affordable models that Mercedes produces, it is also great for company or corporate cars due to its range and stylish look.  

Mercedes EQB

The Mercedes EQB was unveiled in 2021 and went on sale in 2022. Based on the GLB range of vehicles, it is available in front-wheel drive and the 4MATIC dual motor all-wheel drive. The EQB is available in five and seven-seater configurations, so is ideal for those who require additional seats for multiple passengers.

On paper, some details worth knowing are:

• Vehicle Type – SUV.
• Iterations – There has only been one version of this so far.
• Range – The EQB 300 4MATIC has a 228 hp/168kW with a range of 242-253 miles. The EQB 350 4MATIC has a 292 hp/215kW with a range of 253 miles.
• Capacity – The EQB has 17.4cu ft of storage, going up to 60.3cu ft with the rear seats down.

The EQB offers a larger car at a more affordable price than many other electric versions of this size SUV. It’s mid-range within Mercedes-Benz’s offering, and with three trim levels and more options than you’ll know what to do with, it’s perfect for those who love a new gadget.

Mercedes EQC

A 4x4 that packs a punch, not only because it’s got a great range for a larger vehicle, but because it’s a completely new design for Mercedes and it looks stunning.

Here’s a look at the specs:

• Vehicle Type – SUV.
• Iterations – There has only been one version of this vehicle.
• Range – of the EQC boasts up to 254 miles, charges up to 80 per cent in around 40 minutes, and has a 408 hp/300kW battery.
• Capacity – The EQC’s trunk can hold up to 17.6 litres and up to 37.4 litres with the rear seats folded.

By enhancing the drivers’ experience even further, the EQC is a 4x4 that knows exactly what it’s doing. It is one of the more expensive models but is totally worth it for the amount of features you get, with a range ideal for commuters.

Mercedes EQS

The Mercedes EQS was first released in 2021 and in the US in 2022, after being presented at the International Motor Show in 2019. It’s a sleek and stylish saloon car that is perfect as a family car or company car.

The Mercedes EQS’ quick specs include:

• Vehicle Type – Saloon.
• Iteration – This is the first iteration of the EQS.
• Range – This car’s equipped with a range of 453 miles, 333hp/245kW or 658 hp/484kW with a range of 347 miles.
• Capacity – The EQS offers an incredible 21.5cu ft of trunk space, up to 60cu ft with the rear chairs down.

The EQS is one of the higher range models in the electric fleet for Mercedes-Benz. The basic model without extras is still a fantastic package to start with, and the trims are the standard AMG Line, AMG Line Premium, AMG Line Premium Plus and then the Luxury and Exclusive Luxury ranges which are top-level range.

Future Mercedes models

Mercedes has committed to getting every range it currently manufactures to have an electric version by the end of 2023, with new platforms being rolled out over the coming three years.
