Driving In and Around Valdosta

  • VSU Oak Street Parking Deck (31601) is open 24/7 on Valdosta State University campus. It’s close to the Fine Arts Gallery and Bazmore-Hyder Stadium.
  • Briggs Street Parking Lot (31601) has ample parking behind Valdosta City Municipal Court for your rental car. From here, you’re close to Lowndes County Historical Museum and Olympic Park.
  • Sustella Street Parking Garage has more than 1,000 spaces on the university campus. If your Valdosta rental car here Monday to Friday, you’ll need to get a free parking permit from the Parking & Transportation Department.
  • Interstate 75 (I-75) runs the length of the US, cutting through Georgia on Valdosta’s west. Take it south to reach the Florida capital, Gainesville, or north towards Atlanta.
  • US Route 221 (US 221) is a major Georgia highway that runs through Valdosta’s center. Follow it northeast to reach Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area.
  • US Route 41 (US 41) branches east from the I-74 to form a loop around the city. It then heads south into Florida.  

How to Get From Valdosta to Grand Bay Wetland Education Center

It takes around 20 minutes to drive the 11 miles from downtown Valdosta to Grand Bay Wetland Education Center in your rental car:

  1. Leave the city along North Ashley Street (US 41).
  2. Take the right lane to join the GA 125 North.
  3. Follow this road for three miles, then turn right on to Knight Academy Road.
  4. Continue on this route for five miles, then turn left at the Grand Bay Wetland signage.
  5. At the end of the track, turn left to reach the educational center parking lot.

 

How to Get From Valdosta to Jacksonville

The coastal splendor of Jacksonville, Florida, is just under a two-hour drive if you pick up a rental car in Valdosta. Just head on the I-75 South from Valdosta, then take Exit 435 to join the I-10 East across to Jacksonville.
