How to Get From Newport News to Virginia Beach

It takes around 45 minutes to drive the 40 miles from Newport News to Virginia Beach with your holiday or business car rental, depending on traffic.

  1. Leave the car rental parking lot near our Newport News location on Jefferson Avenue, heading south to join the I-64 East.
  2. Cross the bay, then use the right lanes to take Exit 284A.
  3. Make a left turn on to the I-264 and continue until the road ends.
  4. Use 21 Street and Pacific Avenue to arrive beside the sands.

 

How to Get From Newport News to Norfolk

The quickest way to get from Newport News to Norfolk is usually via the I-64. Norfolk is just a 35-minute drive with your car rental from Newport News via this route. Then simply join Tidewater Drive and East Brambleton Avenue to reach Downtown.
