As the capital city, Oklahoma City can see a buildup of traffic around rush hour on the major highways. This tends to be between 7:30am and 8:30am, then 4:30pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Renting a car makes it easier to get around Oklahoma City.

Main routes in Oklahoma City:

  • Interstate 40 (I-40) runs across the US, from California in the west to North Carolina on the east coast, cutting through central Oklahoma City. Hop in a car rental to avoid bus and train waiting times.
