Freeways here are known as autovias, but some stretches are tolled, which are called autopistas. On freeways the maximum speed is 120km/h (74mph), which drops to 100km/h (62mph) on multi-lane highways and 50km/h (30mph) in urban areas.

The city itself is surrounded by a network of roads, making accessing its sights straightforward. The A-431 crosses from the south side of the city over the River Guadalquivir. Turn off onto the Avenue del Alcazar and onto Pje Sta Teresa Jornet. Here you’ll find a parking lot close to the Mezquita, though there are many others around the city. Medina Azahara, a breathtaking palace complex, is found just outside of the city, 20 minutes away via the A-431.
