Driving In and Around Eindhoven

Renting a car in Eindhoven is the very best way to get a taste of this lively university city, centered around its fantastic technology campus. From here, you can drive your rental car to the Philips company or Lightbulb Museum to discover the ways in which Eindhoven has been a tech trailblazer for decades.

Eindhoven city center is only a 15-minute drive from the airport in your holiday car rental if you take the Tilburgseweg road off the A2. Driving around the city is straightforward thanks to its convenient ring road. If you’re looking to park your Eindhoven car rental, there are plenty of parking lots available, including on-street and pay-and-display options.

First-time visitors should note that you must drive on the right-side of the road in the Netherlands, as in the U.S. The speed limit is 130 km/h (81 mph) on most freeways, dropping to 100 km/h (62 mph) on expressways, 80 km/h (50 mph) outside of built-up areas and 50 km/h (31 mph) in built-up areas. Mobile or cell phone use is not allowed while driving, and seatbelts must be worn by all passengers.

Heading outside the city? You’ll be well-connected in your car rental. Eindhoven is within a few hours’ drive of the borders of both Germany and Belgium. The A50 leads you towards Arnhem and the north-east. Meanwhile, the wonderful capital of Amsterdam is less than two hours away via the A2 – a sign of how compact this country is.
