Viva Las Vegas! This dazzling, daring city is among the world’s most famous destinations. Gamblers and stars alike are drawn to the bright lights of the Sin City Strip. But this Nevada city is so much more than its mega entertainment resorts and extravagant hotels. Other Las Vegas neighborhoods provide a very different experience.

Check out some of our favorite Las Vegas neighborhoods below.

The Strip

Spirited, energetic, bright and boisterous. The Strip is the hub where it all happens. Iconic Las Vegas Boulevard is a heady cacophony of neon lights, luxury resorts and exciting destinations. World-famous for its in-resort entertainment, you’ll find ample things to do at The Palazzo, Caesars Palace and their neighbors – from spa days to a card game or two.

There’s still a lot to love here even if you’d rather not take a seat at the slots. Check out some of the big-name acts performing at the hotels or hop aboard a personal gondola in the man-made canals that circle The Venetian casino.

Downtown Las Vegas

Head downtown for something a little less fast-paced. Old Las Vegas still features nightlife and entertainment, but you’ll find it’s a little less shoulder-to-shoulder than the ever-busy Strip.

Take to the skies on the SlotZilla Zipline or feel the roar of a monster truck rally at the Fremont Street Experience. This part of Sin City still attracts big stars and even bigger celebrations, so you’re guaranteed fun in a quieter atmosphere.

Summerlin

Though ‘Las Vegas’ may conjure up images of bright neon and opulent casinos, the city does have some wonderful natural escapes and hiking trails. The suburb of Summerlin is a family-friendly corner of the world, complete with manicured lawns and white picket fences. It works as a great jumping off point for the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

There are several different trails, so you’ll likely find one that suits your fitness level and time constraints. The trails will take you past the red rock monoliths that give the area its name, as well as ancient Native American petroglyphs and wall markings.

Henderson Green Valley

After a period of heavy investment and gentrification, the once industrial Henderson has been reborn as a trendy city that blends into wider Las Vegas. Of course, the gambling and gaudiness of Sin City has filtered its way into the newly titled Green Valley, but you can experience a more traditional American feel in this Nevada destination.

As Las Vegas neighborhoods go, central Green Valley remains relatively historic. A wander along Water Street will take you down the main thoroughfare, where eateries and coffee shops jostle for attention.

North Las Vegas

Further into the Mojave Desert, you’ll find North Las Vegas. The city is a far cry from its neighbor, though the district lines between the two are blurred. There are copious natural escapes here, with a chance to head into the desert in search of sunbaked views and unique wildlife.

Listen out for the rumble of the Las Vegas Speedway, home of Nevada’s NASCAR installment. This oval racecourse is the main draw in this corner of town, with fans of the all-American tournament heading here every year. Swing by on race weekend and try and get yourself a seat trackside.

Arts District

If meandering round art galleries and wiling away balmy afternoons in a coffee shop is more your speed, seek out the trendy Art District for more boutiques and independents than elsewhere in Sin City.

As you might expect, the district is packed with working workshops, galleries and art murals. You can even hop on the weekly walk-and-talk and join an artist on a guided tour around the many on-street displays.

Afterwards, do a little shopping in one of the many chic stores, or stop for a bite to eat among the variety of global culinary delights to be found here.

Boulder City

Boulder City is another destination ideal for those who’re keen to stretch their legs rather than their wallets in the Vegas area. Once you’ve rented your car in Las Vegas, take the short drive south to this suburban spot for excellent hiking routes and wildlife opportunities.

Originally built to house workers involved in the construction of the Hoover Dam, this desert city has become a popular spot away from the bright lights of the Strip. Rafting and kayaking await on Lake Mead, or you could join a tour to the colossal Hoover Dam to see the structure in all its concrete glory.
