Streamline your car rental experience with Hertz Receipts online

But no matter how late you’re running you must get a copy of your receipt. This is especially important if it’s an expense you’re going to need to claim back.

Fortunately, Hertz offers an easy and straightforward way to obtain your car rental receipt online, saving you time and hassle.

How to request an online receipt with Hertz 

When you rent from one of our offices, a car rental receipt will be available within seven days after you return the vehicle to us.

Obtaining an online receipt with Hertz is simple, just:

• Visit Hertz ‘Request a Rental Receipt’ online.

• Enter your personal information including first and last names, driver’s license number, the debit or credit card number you used to pay for your car rental, etc.

• Once you’ve entered the all-important details, press the “search” button and you will be presented with an electronic copy of your receipt, which you can download straight to your device.

If you can’t find your receipt, there is also an “Advanced Search” option where you can enter your rental dates and rental agreement number to track it down.

What’s included on a Hertz online receipt?

At Hertz, we want to make every customer experience the best that it can be. That’s why we aim to provide our customers with clear and fully itemized car rental receipts.

Your car rental receipt will show the total cost of the rental in question. It will also list all of the individual elements that make up the total.

These can include:

• Additional charges - added as part of the rental, such as additional drivers and extra insurance. If you have chosen the Fuel Purchase Option, this will also be shown here.

• Additional items - any other items added to the rental, such as SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, PlatePass® for toll roads and child car seats.

• Service charges and taxes - including any late return fees or costs associated with the vehicle containing less fuel than it had when supplied (for customers who have not taken up the Fuel Purchase Option).

Your receipt will also display all state or local taxes, along with any Hertz surcharge for recovery. The result will be a comprehensive online car rental receipt with transparent information about how we have calculated the total cost of your rental.

Are there any Terms and Conditions? 

Yes. There are a few terms and conditions that you may want to familiarise yourself with before using Hertz Online receipts, such as:

• The car rental receipt may not be immediately available, but it should be ready within seven days of the end of the rental. If you still can’t find yours after seven days, just contact our customer service team who will be happy to help.

• A maximum of 20 receipts can be displayed at any one time. Each one is only available for six months from the date when the car was returned.

• For rentals in the U.S. and Canada paid for by European company Hertz Charge Cards, the receipt will be in US dollars. It may also not include adjustments that take currency exchange rates into account.

Enjoy more convenience with Hertz Instant Return 

Using our online receipts portal can make your Hertz Instant return a quicker and smoother process. Hertz Instant Return is a process that we generally use during the busier periods of the day when several cars are being returned to us at the same time.

It is designed to help customers complete the necessary formalities quickly. Your Hertz representative will meet you by the car and use a hand-held computer terminal to close down the rental. In under a minute, your car rental receipt will be created, and your debit or credit card will be charged automatically. You will also have the option to make sure that your frequent traveler number is recorded to ensure you receive the credits due to you.

Enjoy additional benefits with eReceipts and Express Return® 

There are additional benefits to enjoy when you register for our Gold Plus Rewards program, including access to eReceipts and Express Return®.

Once you’ve registered, you just need to go to the Vehicle Preferences page of your profile. Then update it to include the service and within 30 minutes of closing your rental, we’ll email you a PDF of your eReceipt.

This works alongside our Express Return service.  With this, you just need to fill in the relevant section of your Rental Agreement with details like the time of the return and the mileage and gas or charge left in the car. Then just leave the form with the car keys and you’re free to go on your way.

The only exception is if there has been any damage to your car. In this case, you’ll need to tell a Hertz representative and complete an Accident Report Form.
