  • On-street metered parking can be found throughout Jersey City, although there are often time restrictions. Popular areas include Montgomery Street and Newark Avenue. Be aware of times and charges in different areas of Jersey City before parking your rental car.

 

  • Interstate 78 (I-78) starts in Pennsylvania and runs for 144 miles to reach Jersey City, terminating at the Holland Tunnel.
  • Interstate 95 (I-95) connects the Eastern Seaboard, starting in Miami and running through Jacksonville, Washington D.C., Baltimore and Newark, before terminating at the Houlton-Woodstock Border Crossing in Maine.
  • State Route 440 (NJ-440) connects the New Jersey Turnpike with Perth Amboy and provides connections to New York City and the Garden State Parkway.

 

How To Get From Jersey City To Manhattan

It takes between 25 and 40 minutes to drive the 8.6 miles to Manhattan from central Jersey City in your rental car.

  1. From the Newport Mall HLE, take Mall Drive West and follow Marin Boulevard in Jersey City to reach the Holland Tunnel.
  2. Continue through the Holland Tunnel then take West Street and NY-9A.
  3. Exit the NY-9A onto West 79th Street.
  4. Take West 81st Street to reach Central Park West in Manhattan.

 

How To Get From Jersey City To John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK)

John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) is less than an hour’s drive from our Jersey City car rental location. Just get on the I-78 and take exit 14A to get on State Route 440 and then the I-278 East. Take Belt Parkway to the I-678 South and follow to reach the airport.
