A little more about Polestar
In 1996, Swedish race car driver Jan “Flash” Nilsson created a racing team called Flash Engineering. Flash partnered with Swedish car manufacturer, Volvo, who supported the team in the Swedish Touring Car Championship series.
In 2005 the team was sold and renamed Polestar Racing.
Then, in July of 2015, Volvo purchased the Polestar brand and production car tuning division. With a team of passionate and talented engineering daredevils from the racing world, Volvo put them to work on a project that would revolutionize the automobile industry.
In 2017 Polestar was established as a new, standalone Swedish premium electric vehicle manufacturer, giving Polestar the freedom to begin researching, developing and producing high-end performance electric cars as an independent brand.
Polestar was no stranger to automotive R&D and innovation. They have developed several gas and hybrid vehicles for concept and production since 2009.
Unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2017, the Polestar 1, the brand’s first production vehicle under their own name, was met with wild anticipation. This two-door, eight–speed, all-wheel drive hybrid would pave the way for its all-electric sibling, the Polestar 2.
