It takes about 30 minutes to drive the 20 miles from car rental in downtown Alexandria to Kisatchie National Forest:

  1. Leave the city along Gillis William Long Bridge.
  2. Follow Main Street (US 165) northeast for around two miles.
  3. Turn left on to Claiborne Street.
  4. At the end of the road, take a right to join the US 71 North.
  5. Stick to the right lane to merge on to the US 165 North.
  6. Follow the US 165 for around 13 miles into Pollock.
  7. Turn left on to Howard Street, then left again on to Stuart Lake Road to reach the main campground.

 

How to Get From Alexandria Car Rental to Shreveport

Shreveport is just a two-hour or so drive from downtown Alexandria when you rent a car. Just head on the I-49 North, then take Exit 1206 to merge on to the I-20 East into the city.
