Car Rental - Zagreb Airport

The driver must present a national driving license held for a minimum of one year at the time of rental.

An International Driving Permit (IDP) is also required except for driver's licenses issued by the following countries: Austria, Bosnia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The IDP translates the national license into various languages and is not accepted without the national license.

Important Notice for Customers with UK Driving Licences issued in Great Britain

When renting in Croatia, all drivers with a UK licence (except Northern Ireland) will need to provide evidence of any driving endorsements. This also applies if you have a paper licence that was issued before 1998.

You will need to provide a ‘Check Code’ which enables you to share your driving record with someone, for example a car hire company. Check Codes are valid for 21 days.

Driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form. Hertz China will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. BOTH the Certification and the original licence MUST be produced at the time of rental.

If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

Extra day is charged after 29 minutes over 24 hour rental period.

A one way rental is a rental which starts at one location and terminates at another. Availability is subject to location restrictions and vehicle type. A fee may apply for this service and will be advised at time of reservation.

Hertz rates do not include fuel.

For 1-2 days rental, the Hertz vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel as shown at the time of pick-up. If vehicle is returned with less fuel, the missing fuel will be charged, plus a refuelling service charge in the amount of € 37.50 (including tax).

For 3 or more days rental, the fuel available in the vehicle at the time of pick up must be prepaid at time of pick up. Upon return of the vehicle, you can request a refund for the amount of fuel in the tank at the time of return. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than the fuel prepaid, a refuelling service charge in the amount of € 37.50 (including tax) will apply. Any refund due will be processed through your credit/debit card. 

Please be advised the price per litre of fuel is calculated based on the average fuel price in the area.
