How to unlock the Cadillac LYRIQ

The Cadillac LYRIQ has a keyless open-and-start feature for your convenience. Provided the key fob is within range, you can unlock the doors simply by pressing on the large end of the handle on the driver or passenger side door. Then, just open as normal.

The key fob will need to be within three feet to activate keyless opening. You can disable this feature if you prefer to unlock the car manually.

How to start the Cadillac LYRIQ

Once inside, start the car by pressing the brake pedal and the power button while the vehicle is in Park mode. The key needs to be inside the car with you and the fob needs to have battery power. If you press the power button without using the brake pedal, you will be taken to the Accessory menu.

You can also start the engine remotely by pressing the looping arrow button on your key fob twice. You may need to download the myCadillac mobile app to be able to use the remote start feature.

It’s recommended that you use remote start while your Cadillac is still plugged in. This allows the vehicle to use energy from the outlet to set the cabin temperature, leaving you with more charge for your trip.

If your fob runs out of charge, or you don’t want to use the keyless start function, you can start the LYRIQ by placing the deactivated fob in the key pocket. Check your user manual to locate the key pocket in your specific model.

How to drive away a Cadillac LYRIQ

Now you know how to get in and switch on the Cadillac LYRIQ, it’s time to take it for a spin. Some people worry they may not know how to drive an electric car after being used to gas-powered vehicles – but we’ll show you how easy it is to drive away in a LYRIQ.

  1. Use the Drive Mode app to select which mode you prefer.
  • Tour mode optimizes ride quality for everyday driving.
  • You may also have the option to select Sport mode for dry roads. This includes tighter steering, hydraulic dampers and more responsive suspension.
  • Other options can include Snow/Ice mode to keep you safer on slippery surfaces, and a customizable My Mode option to personalize your ride.
  1. Press the start button and shift from Park into Drive to move away smoothly.
  2. You can switch on one-pedal driving at any point during your journey. This mode also allows you to opt for high or low levels of regenerative braking.
  3. And you’re off. Note the effortlessness of driving the LYRIQ, the responsiveness of the powertrain and the almost complete silence as you drive.

How to park a Cadillac LYRIQ

Parking the Cadillac LYRIQ is straightforward – the car almost parks itself. Simply press the brake pedal and come to a stop, then use the Electronic Precision Shift stalk on the right side of the steering wheel to switch into Park (P).

If you forget to shift to Park and turn off your engine once at a complete stop, the car will do it for you.

If that wasn’t simple enough, each LYRIQ comes equipped with the Cadillac Smart System14 safety and driver assistance suite. This includes rear parking assist and an HD rear vision camera.

With ultrasonic sensors, some models will even quite literally park themselves. You can use remote park in either perpendicular or parallel spaces without being inside the car.

How to charge a Cadillac LYRIQ

  1. To charge your Cadillac LYRIQ, start by opening the charge port door. This is located below the rearview mirror outside the driver’s door. You can do this by pressing the Cadillac emblem, which is in the upper right corner.
  2. You will see a ring light around the charging ports.
  3. There are two ports available – AC and DC. If using DC fast charging, you will need to remove the dust cover on the lower port.
  4. Plug the appropriate connector from the electric car charger into the charging receptacle. A blue light should flash on the LYRIQ’s dashboard – this does not mean charging has started, only that the charger is properly connected.
  5. If using a public charging station, follow the steps on the charger to begin charging. If you have an at-home charger, follow the steps in the manual.
  6. While charging is active, the connector will be locked. Do not try to remove it until the charge is complete or you have stopped the charging.
  7. When charging begins, you will notice your Charging Status Indicator flashes green.
  8. Disconnect the charger once the charge is complete. You will know the charge is complete when the flashing green light becomes a solid green light.

Where can I charge a Cadillac LYRIQ?

Charging your electric car in the US is becoming easier and more accessible. There are currently more than 160,000 public charging stations across the US, and that number is growing all the time.

These include charging stations in parking lots, shopping malls and leisure centers, as well as roadside facilities. Charging stations tend to be more populous in and around bigger towns and cities and along highways and interstates.

If you’re going on a more rural journey, you may want to plan ahead to ensure you can maintain charge for your Cadillac LYRIQ. There are multiple apps available to show you where to charge your electric car. These include the myCadillac Mobile App, which can help you plan your route based on the nearest available charging stations.

You can charge a Cadillac LYRIQ at almost any public charging station, including Tesla Superchargers from next year.

How long does it take to charge a Cadillac LYRIQ?

The amount of time it takes to charge a Cadillac LYRIQ depends on the type of charger you use. As the name suggests, Fast Chargers will charge your battery more quickly. However, you should use Fast Charging sparingly if you want to prolong the overall life of your battery. So, use AC charging whenever you have the time to do so.

You should also only charge to 80% using a Fast Charger to protect your battery.

  • A DC Fast Charger will give you approximately 77 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging.
  • A 19.2 kWh charger should give you up to 51 miles of range per hour of charge.
  • An 11.5 kWh charger delivers around 31 miles of range per hour of charge.
  • The standard cable included with the Cadillac LYRIQ will give you 21 miles of range per hour of at-home charging.
  • Upgrading to an Ultium Powerup Level 2 home charging station will give you 31 miles of range per hour,

How to increase the range of a Cadillac LYRIQ

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ Tech RWD model offers 314 miles of range. Cadillac recommends only charging to 80% whenever possible, as this allows for regenerative braking. What this means is that you effectively get some free charge whenever you brake, which can extend your overall range.

To extend the range of an EV, you can also make some alterations to your driving style and be vigilant about maintenance and upkeep. Factors such as tire pressure, speed of driving and use of additional features can all affect your range.
