Welcome to the big leagues of minor league racing


Enter for a chance to get in the driver’s seat of the very first Hertz Gold Kart Series. This adrenaline-spiking go-kart race will be held at Speed City karting track during the weekend of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) race. 

The winnings? A team trophy and a VIP tour of the Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA pit lane garage.

Location: Speed City at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, TX

Your path to victory

EVENT FORMAT

3 hours of competitive kart racing in a format designed to mirror the WEC race taking place just a few hundred feet away.

TEAM STRUCTURE

4 teams of 18 randomly selected drivers. 3 teams will be led by Team JOTA drivers Jenson Button, Norman Nato, and Alex Lynn, with the remaining drivers joining Team Tom Brady.

RACE FORMAT

3 drivers from each team take to the track for a 15-minute stint at a time, with each stint followed by 5-minute breaks.

OPEN TRACK

After the race, there will be 3 hours of open-track driving for up to 18 drivers at a time. Time slots can be booked before or during the race by showing proof of Hertz Gold Plus Rewards membership.

The spoils of victory


Entering gets you a chance to race (and even a chance to get virtual coaching from Tom Brady), but we know you’re after that top spot on the podium. Victory is a prize all on its own, but we wouldn’t send you off the track empty-handed.

Winners of the race will get a first-place team trophy and an exclusive, VIP tour of the JOTA pit lane garage at COTA. You’ll get an inside look at how the team functions on race day and what it takes to keep the JOTA machine running lap after lap, race after race.

More things to know about the big race

To allow spectators to catch both the Hertz Gold Kart Series and Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA at the WEC, the races will be on different days.

All Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members can enter, but team drivers are chosen at random and we can’t guarantee anyone to be placed on the same team.

To better execute our aim of giving local racing fans a chance to get in on the action, airfare and accommodation aren’t included with the chance to race.

On race day, racers will confirm their place in the lineup and collect their passes at the venue. Then, they’ll collect their gear, suit up, and receive safety training for a rundown of the rules and track layout. After that, there’s one last team huddle before the race – then it’s time to fire up the engines.

There are plenty of ways to have off-track fun at the Hertz Gold Kart Series, from team merch and the Hertz-wrapped kart photo zone to a tasty selection of gold-themed trackside snacks.

Entering for a chance to race, racing in the Gold Kart Series, and spectating the Gold Kart race are all completely FREE.
