On a hot summer’s day, you might be wondering where many of the Casper locals have disappeared to. The answer is likely to be the North Platte River, where residents go fishing, boating or often just bob along the pretty river in an inner tube. The early evening special served 4.30-5.30 Monday to Thursday is a bit of a steal.

Driving In and Around Casper

  • Downtown parking is free but limited to a maximum of two hours from 8AM-5PM on weekdays. No street parking is allowed from 3AM to 6AM on any day.
  • 230 S Wolcott St (82601) garage is close to many restaurants and stores, including the legendary Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters. It has 55 spaces and hourly rates.
  • Eastridge Mall (82609) offers free two-hour parking to its customers. There are 3,500 spaces for your Casper car rental.

 

  • Interstate 25 (I-25) is Wyoming’s main interstate. It enters Caspar from the east and then swings north. Follow it north for Buffalo or drive east for Douglas, before it heads south for Colorado.
  • US Route 26 (US 26) is an east to west route that runs parallel to I-25 inside Casper. Northwest of the city it connects with the airport and then continues to the far side of Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park.
  • Wyoming Highway 251 (WYO 251) goes south from Casper for about 9 miles. It takes you to Casper Mountain and the Hogadon Ski Area. Renting a car means you’ll get to avoid public transport.

 

How to Get From Casper to Yellowstone National Park

To drive to the epic Yellowstone National Park from Casper, it’ll take you approximately five hours to drive your rental car. Drive west on US-26, then get on US-191 north to Yellowstone.

 

How to Get From Casper-Natrona County International Airport to Casper Downtown

Casper is around a nine-mile drive east from the airport with your holiday or business rental car. From Airport Parkway, continue on to Michie Drive. Take a left on to US-20 East / US-26 East and follow for the remaining eight miles.
