Main Routes in Sarasota

  •  U.S. Route 41 (US 41), also known as the Tamiami Trail, is a major north-south road which travels through central Sarasota. It travels to Tampa in the north and eventually reaches Miami in the south.
  • Interstate 75 (I-75) starts in the south of Florida near Miami. It heads west across the Everglades Parkway, then journeys north along the Gulf Coast through Fort Myers, Venice and Sarasota, before crossing the border to Georgia.

Sarasota Airport to Downtown

Sarasota Airport is less than five miles away from central Sarasota and the journey takes around 10 minutes in your rental car.

  1. Leave the Hertz lot in your Sarasota rental car and travel south-west toward Airport Circle.
  2. Take a right onto University Parkway.
  3. Use the left two lanes to turn left onto North Tamiami Trail (US 41), stay on for two miles.
  4. Take the second exit at the first roundabout, then do the same at the next roundabout.
  5. Continue onto Bayfront Drive, then turn left onto Main Street to reach Downtown Sarasota.
