  • City of Newark Lot 4 (19711) is open seven days a week and is close to a number of popular restaurants.
  • Municipal Lot 6 (19711) is a small hourly lot open 24/7. It’s ideal for the Newark Opera House and the University of Delaware campus.
  • On-street metered parking is available in Newark. Meters are active on a Sunday, but you can park your car rental for free from 7am to 1pm. On-street parking is free on federal holidays.

 

  • Interstate 95 (I-95) is the main interstate serving Delaware. It runs to the south of the city, leading west into Maryland and northeast to Wilmington and onto Philadelphia. 
  • State Route 273 (SR 273) travels from the heart of Newark, running northwest before crossing into the neighboring state of Maryland. 
  • State Route 2 (SR 2) begins in the northeast of the city, at the end of SR 72. It leads past the Newark Farmer’s Market and on to Marshallton and Elsmere.

 

How to Get From Hertz Newark to Wilmington

It takes 26 minutes to travel the 13.2 miles from our Newark car rental location to Wilmington.

  1. Leave Hertz car rental on Marrows Road.
  2. Head north on Marrows Road towards John Campbell Road.
  3. Turn right onto DE-273 East.
  4. Merge onto I-95 North towards Delaware Memorial Bridge/Wilmington.
  5. Keep left at the fork to stay on I-95 North, follow signs for Interstate 95/Interstate 495/Wilmington/Philadelphia.
  6. Take exit 7 towards DE-52/Delaware Avenue.
  7. Turn right onto West 9th Street.
  8. Arrive in Wilmington.

 

How to Get From Newark to Philadelphia

Philadelphia is just over 44 miles from Newark in your car rental. Get on I-95 North in Christiana. Follow I-95 North, I-495 North, and I-95 North to North 15th Street in Philadelphia. Take the exit towards PA-611/Broad Street/Central Philadelphia from I-676 West/US-30 West. Drive to North 15th Street.
