FAQs

Does Hertz charge late return fees?

Hertz charges late return fees, though charges depend on your car rental location. You may be charged late fees on your airport car rental if you fail to return the vehicle at the designated time. Most EU locations offer a grace period of 29 minutes, but if you complete your return later than this, you may be charged for an extra day’s rental.

How can I pay for my Hertz car rental at Barcelona Airport?

Hertz accepts payments at our desks via debit or credit card at the end of your rental period. We may run a credit card check just to make sure you’re able to pay for your rental car. You may also need to present us with a form of legal ID, such as your passport, so we can make sure it’s you.

For more information on payments, search our frequently asked questions to answer a query.

Where can I charge my electric car in Barcelona?

There are currently over 500 electric car charging stations in Barcelona. You’ll find the majority of these clustered around the city center, mostly across car parks for supermarkets and hotels. The city also has a few roadside and public highway charging stations. It’s a good idea to plan your routes accordingly so you know where’s best to pull up and recharge.

This includes licenses which are only partly translated, Japanese and all Arabic licenses etc.

Driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China/ Japan may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form. Hertz China/ Japan will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China/ Japan Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. Both the Certification and the original licence (with an International Driving Permit strongly recommended by Police authorities in Europe) MUST be produced at the time of rental.

If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

Extra day is charged after 29 minutes over 24 hour rental period.
