Collecting your rental car from Berlin Airport

The Berlin Airport car rental center is on the same level as arrivals and baggage claim, so it’s easy to reach the Hertz desk once you land. Terminals 1 and 2 are directly opposite to each other. If you arrive at Terminal 2, you can walk to Terminal 1 in just a few minutes.

If you need extra assistance, reach out to your airline and make use of Berlin Airport’s free Mobility Service. Just be sure to get in touch at least 48 hours before your departure, or when you book your flight.

Berlin Airport has various multistorey parking lots close to Terminals 1 and 2. The P1 and P2 parking lots are the closest to the terminals, with spaces suitable for families and people with limited mobility.

Once you arrive at our Hertz location, our friendly staff will guide you through the collection process. You’ll then find our rental cars parked at the Berlin Airport P2 parking lot.

Hertz car rental at Berlin Airport is available from 7am to 11pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays. On Sundays, our office will be open from 10am to 10pm.

Once you collect your rental car at Berlin Airport, it takes just 45 minutes to drive the 25.5 miles (41km) to Berlin city center.

  1. Leave the P2 car rental parking lot at Berlin Airport by heading east onto Hugo-Junkers-Ring, then continue straight.
  2. Use the left two lanes on Hugo-Junkers-Ring to merge onto Schönefelder Allee.
  3. Use the left two lanes to merge onto A113, taking the slip road to Hamburg/Berlin-Zentrum.
  4. Keep left on A113 and continue for 7.5 miles (12km).
  5. Continue onto the A100.
  6. Take exit 20 (Tempelhofer Damm) towards Tempelhofer Damm/B96.
  7. Use the right two lanes to turn right onto Tempelhofer Damm/B96.
  8. Continue to Wilhelmstraße in Berlin city center.

  2. Use the left two lanes to turn left onto A100.
  3. Continue onto the A113.
  4. Stay in the right lane and take exit 8-Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg towards Schönefelder Allee.
  5. Keep right at the fork and follow signs for Businesspark Kienberg/Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg.
  6. Continue to Schönefelder Allee to reach the Berlin Airport car rental drop-off at the P2 parking lot.

What to do when you return your rental car

Before your departure, return your car rental at the Berlin Airport P2 parking lot where you first collected your vehicle.

If you’re returning your car outside of our operating hours, drop off your rental keys at our Hertz car rental safe. You’ll find it in the car rental center by the escalators in Terminal 1.

At the time of rental the driver must present a valid national driver's license which has been held for at least 1 year, provided your national driver's license is in Roman script.

 

All licenses issued in the European Union are accepted.

 

All other licenses in Roman Script are accepted for renting, however, an International Driving Permit is highly recommended as you may be required to present it to the authorities.

 

With all Non-European Union driver's licenses not in Roman Script, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is mandatory.

 

The IDP translates the national license into various languages and is on its own, without the national license, not acceptable.

  

Driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China/ Japan may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form. Hertz China/ Japan will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China/ Japan Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. Both the Certification and the original licence (with an International Driving Permit strongly recommended by Police authorities in Europe) MUST be produced at the time of rental.

 

If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

A one way rental is a rental which starts at one location and terminates at another. Availability is subject to location restrictions and vehicle type. A fee may apply for this service and will be advised at time of reservation.

 

One-way rentals are allowed with specific vehicle groups/types to Ljubljana (Slovenia), Warsaw, Szczecin and Poznan (Poland), Prague (Czech Republic), Budapest (Hungary) and Bratislava (Slovakia).
