Car Rental - Juan Santamaria International Airport

At the time of rental a valid driver's licence from your country of residence or an international driver' licence must be presented.

Driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form. Hertz China will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. BOTH the Certification and the original licence MUST be produced at the time of rental.

If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

Digital driver's licenses are not accepted. At time of rental a printed document must be presented.

Rentals have a grace period of 59 minutes. After the 59 minute mark, half day rental charge will be applied up to 2 hours, then a full day rental charge will apply.

Optional coverages do not have hourly charges/grace period, but are charged as a full day.

A one way rental is a rental which starts at one location and terminates at another. Availability is subject to location restrictions and vehicle type. A fee may apply for this service and will be advised at time of reservation.

Hertz Costa Rica has three refueling options available to meet your needs:

• You may purchase a tank of gas from Hertz Costa Rica at time of rental and return the vehicle with as little gas as you prefer.  Please be aware that we are unable to issue a refund for unused fuel. However, this method eliminates the need for you to refuel the tank prior to returning.

• You can let us refuel for you and only pay for the fuel required to replace the fuel you used, and for the service and convenience of refueling the tank. Please note that refueling price is double than the price at the gas station.

• You can stop and refuel the tank yourself, immediately prior to returning the vehicle.
