Welcome to the Sunshine State, Queensland, for a holiday in Caloundra Downtown. Queensland is famed for the endless summer sun, so you can visit Caloundra any time of year for a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of city life. One of the easiest ways to get around in Caloundra is by car, so make sure to pick up your rental car from Hertz Caloundra Downtown.

Caloundra is a favourite for both domestic and international tourists. Sitting on the cusp of the Sunshine Coast, it’s just an hour’s drive away from Brisbane, meaning it truly has the best of both worlds. As Caloundra has quite a tropical climate, it makes for a great beach break - even in the winter months, the weather will be mild enough to enjoy a day by the ocean.

Caloundra Downtown is the start of your sunny break. Filled with beach days, outdoor activities, and other explorations, you can truly have a great holiday any time of year here in Caloundra. Make the most of it all by hiring a car from Hertz Caloundra Downtown.

Get Outside in Caloundra

One of the best aspects of a Queensland holiday is being outside. No matter what time of year you visit Caloundra, you’ll have a fantastic time exploring the region.

The Caloundra Coastal Walks are one of the main attractions in Caloundra. It’s actually a great way to spend a cooler day on the coast, or if it is hot out, maybe a morning or sunset walk. This 25-kilometre walk stretches across Bulcock Beach, the Caloundra Headline, and Golden Beach. You can either complete a section or two during the early or later hours of the day, or if you’re feeling adventurous, head out on the whole track. In total, a one-way trip is 25-kilometre or a 50-kilometre return. It’s advisable to leave your car at the finish line and get public transport to the start of the track if you did want to do the whole hike one-way.

The waves are a great highlight of Caloundra. Surfers flock to this coastal point while on holiday here, as the regular swell on the coast provides excellent waves throughout the year. The most popular beach is Moffat’s Point due to its consistent surf for those who like to ride the ways all year round. If you want to learn to surf, head to North Caloundra Surf School for a great introductory session. If surfing isn’t quite what you fancy, then head to Kings Beach. With rock pools, child-friendly water fountains, a lifeguard patrolled beach and an ocean pool, it’s a great visit all year round for the entire family.

Spend a Day Exploring with Hertz

There’s more to Caloundra than beautiful beaches. While this is the reason that many choose to come and stay here, there are plenty of tourist-based activities if the weather isn’t quite what you need it to be for a day by the seaside.

One such activity is a visit to Aussie World, which is just down the road. This is one of the premier theme parks in Queensland, with plenty of family-friendly rides combined with thrilling rollercoasters, too.

Another great family day out is a visit to Australia Zoo. It’s just a twenty-minute drive from Caloundra and is one of the most famous zoos in the world. Founded in 1970 by the Irwin family, it was then taken over by Steve Irwin, the late ‘Crocodile Hunter’. Steve Irwin gained worldwide fame and notoriety for his love of animals and educational shows about the wilderness in Australia. Nowadays, his legend is carried on by his family. It’s a worthwhile visit any time of the year.

Caloundra has captured the hearts of many. A thrilling surf town, this beautiful spot will welcome tourists all year round, with the white sand, blue ocean, and fun waves happening each and every day. Make sure to pack for plenty of adventures, as you’ll need these while driving to new and exciting locations in your Hertz rental. We can’t wait to welcome you to your holiday soon with Hertz Caloundra Downtown.

Fuel & Electrical Recharging Policy

Fuel is not included in your rental rate. Your vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel or if the tank is not full, we will provide you with credit for the missing fuel and you can decide how you wish to pay for the fuel you use during your rental. You have the following options:

Buy a full tank at the start …

  • Often referred to as our Fuel Purchase Option (FPO).
  • If you purchase a full tank of fuel from us at the start of your rental, you will not need to refill the tank before returning and will have nothing more to pay for fuel.
  • This is a good option for high kilometre journeys where you are likely to use a full tank.

Buy a half tank at the start….

  • It may be more convenient to pay for a half tank of fuel at the start of the rental and save time on refuelling by returning the vehicle with only a half a tank of fuel.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys where you are more likely to use less fuel.
  •

FUEL PURCHASE OPTION (FPO)

We charge you at the start of your rental for a full tank of fuel at a price competitive with local fuel stations. You will have nothing more to pay to us for your fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

HALF TANK OPTION

We charge you at the start of your rental for a half tank of fuel at a competitive price with local fuel stations and return with only half a tank of fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

Return with a full tank …

  • Return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel purchased from a local fuel station.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys.

IMPORTANT: Fuel gauges may still indicate that the tank is “full” many kilometres after it was last re-filled. To deal with this, we ask you to refill the tank within 15 km of the return location and bring your fuel receipt with you when returning the Vehicle. We ask you to present a copy of the fuel receipt to a Hertz employee or leave a copy in the Vehicle. If you do not do so, we reserve the right to apply a small charge – please ask at the counter for details.

…..or without refuelling

  • A good option if you are in a hurry, did not take FPO or a Half Tank of fuel and do not have time to refill the tank on return.

REFUELLING SERVICE CHARGE: We will charge you a price per litre to refill the tank. These prices are indicated on your Rental Agreement.

EV Battery Recharging Service Fee

You are liable for any reduction in battery charge percentage from when you picked up your EV to when you returned it (no refund will be provided if this figure is higher, upon return). If we are required to recharge the EV to return it to its battery departure level, we will charge you a price per kilo watt (kW), as detailed on your Rental Agreement.

EV Low Battery Recharging Service Fee

If you return the vehicle at 15% battery charge level or less, we will charge an additional recharging service fee, as detailed on your Rental Agreement.
