Bundaberg Airport

Rent a car from Bundaberg Airport

Bundaberg will feel like home.

This friendly Queensland town is a welcoming place for many: from migrating animals, sea life, and people too. With a warm atmosphere that entices thousands of visitors each year, it’s a vibrant place that many who visit, fall in love with.

Located at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reed, Bundaberg is an exciting adventure. This region is best explored by rental car, as there is much to do and see while you stay here. You’ll want to visit all that this town and the surrounding area have to offer, so don’t miss a moment. With a rental car from Hertz Bundaberg Airport, you can see everything you want easily.

Explore Bundaberg in your Rental Car

The restaurants in Bundaberg follow the simple philosophy of paddock to plate.

With local farms providing some of the highest quality produce, no other town is quite like this one. From baristas to restaurant chefs, brewers, to bakers – every person who works in hospitality in Bundaberg will share the same love of locally produced, high-quality food. And it is delicious.

Try out the food for yourself while you’re here. Start the day at Indulge Cafe, a favourite among locals. Conveniently located within the CBD, you could drive here first thing in the morning before the day's adventures have truly started. Another great choice is Windmill Cafe, with plenty of great options from local regional farms.

If you’re a foodie, maybe drive around to the markets. There’s Alloway Farm Market, which has plenty of produce from the local farms. It’s a thriving place with a real community spirit – it’ll be the perfect way to truly understand what Bundaberg is all about.

The breweries here are phenomenal. Of course, enjoy these safely, but try and have a visit while you’re in town. Bargara Brewery prides itself on its craft produce that doesn’t take life too seriously - with options like Rusty Roo and Drunk Fish often on the menu. There’s Bundaberg Rum too – a world-famous icon that’s known for its incredible produce.

Enjoy a spot of history and culture once you’ve filled up on all the delicious food. Drive to the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery or the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens for a spot of art and plenty of history.

Drive the Region with Hertz

Bundaberg is the gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, making it a popular tourist destination all year round.

You can head to the reef from the mainland or perhaps visit the islands for a day or two for a mini-break in your holiday. Lady Elliot Island is a luxurious option, it’s an all-inclusive island that is located in the heart of the reef. Drive to the airport and take to the skies. Seeing the reef from the plane is a breathtaking experience. Snorkel and swim the day away, before heading back to the island for dinner and a good night’s sleep.

Closer to town is the Mon Repos Turtle Centre. It’s an incredible place that supports the largest concentration of nesting sea turtles in East Australia. Turtles frequent the Bundaberg region for half of the year: between November and January, turtles lay their nests, and between January and March, the hatching begins! It’s an incredible sight, and one not to miss. If you do visit the turtle centre, book in advance as this is a hugely popular place.

Bundaberg is undoubtedly something magical. A town with an atmosphere unlike any other, this sunshine Queensland town has a thriving community and plenty of incredible sights. Spend a few days driving around the town to see what it offers, before heading out to the region to see the wonderful places around. We’ll be here to welcome you at Bundaberg Airport soon.

Fuel & Electrical Recharging Policy

Fuel is not included in your rental rate. Your vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel or if the tank is not full, we will provide you with credit for the missing fuel and you can decide how you wish to pay for the fuel you use during your rental. You have the following options:

Buy a full tank at the start …

  • Often referred to as our Fuel Purchase Option (FPO).
  • If you purchase a full tank of fuel from us at the start of your rental, you will not need to refill the tank before returning and will have nothing more to pay for fuel.
  • This is a good option for high kilometre journeys where you are likely to use a full tank.

Buy a half tank at the start….

  • It may be more convenient to pay for a half tank of fuel at the start of the rental and save time on refuelling by returning the vehicle with only a half a tank of fuel.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys where you are more likely to use less fuel.
  •

FUEL PURCHASE OPTION (FPO)

We charge you at the start of your rental for a full tank of fuel at a price competitive with local fuel stations. You will have nothing more to pay to us for your fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

HALF TANK OPTION

We charge you at the start of your rental for a half tank of fuel at a competitive price with local fuel stations and return with only half a tank of fuel. Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

Return with a full tank …

  • Return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel purchased from a local fuel station.
  • This is a good option for low kilometre journeys.

IMPORTANT: Fuel gauges may still indicate that the tank is “full” many kilometres after it was last re-filled. To deal with this, we ask you to refill the tank within 15 km of the return location and bring your fuel receipt with you when returning the Vehicle. We ask you to present a copy of the fuel receipt to a Hertz employee or leave a copy in the Vehicle. If you do not do so, we reserve the right to apply a small charge – please ask at the counter for details.

…..or without refuelling

  • A good option if you are in a hurry, did not take FPO or a Half Tank of fuel and do not have time to refill the tank on return.

REFUELLING SERVICE CHARGE: We will charge you a price per litre to refill the tank. These prices are indicated on your Rental Agreement.

EV Battery Recharging Service Fee

You are liable for any reduction in battery charge percentage from when you picked up your EV to when you returned it (no refund will be provided if this figure is higher, upon return). If we are required to recharge the EV to return it to its battery departure level, we will charge you a price per kilo watt (kW), as detailed on your Rental Agreement.

EV Low Battery Recharging Service Fee

If you return the vehicle at 15% battery charge level or less, we will charge an additional recharging service fee, as detailed on your Rental Agreement.
