Frequently Asked Questions

More things to know on your first drive

At the time of rental the driver must present a valid national driving licence.

For Driver's licences not issued in Zimbabwe an International Driving Permit (IDP) is mandatory. The IDP translates the national licence into various languages and is on its own, without the national licence, not acceptable.

Driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form. Hertz China will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. BOTH the Certification and the original licence MUST be produced at the time of rental.

If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

The Fees and Surcharges for Hertz Car Rental - Harare International Airport can be found here.

Please check the local policy at time of rental.

A one way rental is a rental which starts at one location and terminates at another. Availability is subject to location restrictions and vehicle type. A fee may apply for this service and will be advised at time of reservation.

Hertz vehicles rented in Zimbabwe may only be returned in a Hertz location in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana or Namibia. If the vehicle is rented in Zimbabwe and returned in Namibia or Botswana, an international one-way fee will apply.

For any driving restrictions within or outside Zimbabwe please refer to “Driving Restrictions - Driving Abroad”.

For any further information please contact your Reservation Centre.

Hertz rates do not include fuel.

All Hertz vehicles are rented with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. Current refuelling charges will be applied on return, based on the tank level or mileage driven.

Fuel Purchase Option (FPO).

For convenience, you may purchase a tank of fuel from Hertz at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations; this method eliminates the need for you to refill the tank before returning.

Please be aware that we are unable to give a refund for unused fuel.

Please check availability at time of rental.

Please note that credit cards are not accepted at petrol stations. The only method of payment is by cash or if accepted, an internationally recognized petrol card.
