From LA to Malibu and back again, travel expert and LA native, Francesca Murray aka One Girl One World (@onegrloneworld), took us around to all her favorite hometown haunts as part of the Hertz “One Charge Challenge.” We said, “It’s easy. Take us anywhere you want in your Polestar 2 EV from Hertz…on just one charge.” Francesca’s response? “Done.” Hop in and follow along to see where Francesca takes us. Ready? Let’s Go!
As the most important meal of the day, it’s only right to start with coffee cakes, pastries, and iced coffee. And, because coffee cakes were a staple on the school yard for LA kids, South LA Cafe serves theirs up with a side of nostalgia.
Remember the “if you’re a bird, I’m a bird” scene from the greatest love story ever told? Well, that wasn’t shot in South Carolina. It was filmed right here in California at El Matador beach – our next stop. Just 36 miles west of LA, El Matador Beach has some of Malibu’s best views.
Hopping back on the PCH, past Zuma Beach, Paradise Cove, and Malibu Bluffs Park, we’re headed to Malibu’s ultimate surfy-seafood destination, Broad Street Oyster Co. With lobster rolls, fried oysters, and even caviar service, there’s no shortage of buttery, salty goodness.
Did you really go to LA if you didn’t visit the Santa Monica Pier? Nope, which is why it’s our next stop. The vibrant pier opened on September 9, 1909, making this year its 115th anniversary!
Paris by way of Beverly Hills. Best known for its authentic French macarons, Ladurée is the perfect spot to stop for what the French call le goûter – a little afternoon snack. And yes, we do consider a dozen macarons, an iced tea latte, and a pain au chocolat a little afternoon snack.
Salsa, bachata, ballroom – oh my! Time to get our groove on at 3rd Street Dance. In addition to their social and events, their regular class schedule spans all skill levels from beginner to advanced, so everyone can join in.
Between riding roller coasters, dancing salsa, and exploring the LACMA light installations, the day has been filled with enough activities to work up quite an appetite. And it wouldn’t be right to leave Los Angeles without a healthy serving of tacos which brings us to our final top of the day, Leo’s Taco Truck.
