Enjoy Sun, Sea and Sand in Santa Monica

Sandy shores, Saturday farmers markets and plenty of spots to do a little shopping are what make Santa Monica such a popular Los Angeles neighborhood. Santa Monica State Beach and its pier are loved by locals and tourists alike with 5.6km of soft sand to set up on for the day. Ride the Ferris wheel at Pacific Park – an amusement park on the pier with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean.

Fancy a bike ride? Santa Monica has a path dedicated to cyclists but don’t worry if you didn’t bring your bike, there are plenty of rental places offering traditional rides and electric bikes if you want to take things easy. Head out along the 35 km Marvin Braude Bike Trail (known as The Strand) by the locals, for a different vantage point of the coastline.

Not into cardio? Stop by Muscle Beach – the original workout playground that came before the iconic Venice beach – and have a go at swinging on the rings.
