Hertz VR Line Lounge

Hertz takes major leap into the video game sector with the launch of the Hertz VR Line Lounge

Today marks a historic day for Hertz as we officially announce the forthcoming release of the first-ever Hertz video game, the Hertz VR Line Lounge – a first-of-its-kind gaming experience specifically and painstakingly designed for Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members who miss waiting in line.

“Most Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members seem to love skipping the counter, picking out any vehicle they want and driving off to their destination seamlessly. But recent customer research has shown that a small subset of our loyalty program actually miss waiting in lines, with respondents highlighting ‘time to reset and reflect’, ‘people-watching’ and ‘getting out of doing other stuff’ as some of their favorite bygone line-waiting activities,’” said Executive Vice President and CMO Wayne Davis in a prepared statement.

“I knew we needed to do something, fast. And I had always really wanted to make a video game. So after months of development, the Hertz VR Line Lounge is finally ready to roll out to Hertz lots and homes nationwide.”

In the base package of this fully immersive gaming experience, Hertz Gold Plus Reward Members who miss waiting in line now have the opportunity to choose from over 500 different unique lines to wait in at the touch of a button. Inspired by real-life best-in-class lines from around the world, the game features tried-and-true classics such as Hot Summer Roller Coaster, Abnormally Busy Bank and Waiting For The Bench Press, as well as expert levels such as Sub-Zero Tundra and Purgatory.

For those looking to mix things up even further, the game includes several adjustable line attributes such as Line Length, Line Position, and even a line’s Ruckus Level, which toggles the restlessness of your fellow line-waiters. In Pro Mode, additional external elements such as weather and atmospheric soundscapes are also fully customizable, with base-level optionality ranging from Crying Babies to Loud Awkward Phone Conversation to NYC Traffic Jam. NPC integrations like Middle School Field Trip and Local Puppetry Guild Bachelor Party can also be seamlessly integrated into gameplay with available expansion packs.

A few of the country’s top gamers were offered a sneak peek at the Hertz VR Line Lounge and had plenty of amazing feedback to share:

“Being a Hertz loyalty member, it had been years since I lost my temper… But the Hertz VR Line Lounge really brings me back. It truly rivals some of the worst real-life experiences I’ve ever had. Highly recommend waiting in line in Death Valley Pro Mode with Ruckus Level turned all the way up. What a rush.”

“I strongly encourage every one of my many followers to check this game out. I’ve integrated the Hertz VR Line Lounge into my daily routine and it’s changed my life. I’m not sure why but I think I’m a better father? Playing a couple hours each morning is like my new meditation haha. I relax, reflect; it reminds me of simpler times, before I did all my shopping online. Thank you, Hertz.”
- Glenn Fields
“The “Mysterious Guy Named Jonathan Just Cut The Line AGAIN” bonus level took me over three weeks to beat. No spoilers here, but I’m giving it a solid 10/10 from this lifelong RPG lover!”
- Leslie Prebble

The physical game kit includes the new Hertz Portable Power Pack (HPPP Triple P technology), which hard-wires directly into the custom Hertz VR headset, Hertz Hand Controls and Hertz VR Sneaker Straps that heat up and contour to simulate real line-waiting conditions. With our patented “One Size Fits Small” promise, the game ensures you’re never quite 100% comfortable while waiting, a subtle touch that marks a true innovation in the field of Virtual Reality technology.

“Overall, we’re incredibly pleased with the response so far and we’re excited to get this into the hands of our Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members who need it,” Davis added. “I myself will be getting in line to play with the Hertz VR Line Lounge here in our office later this afternoon, and can’t wait to bring it home to play with the whole family on our next game night.”
