Program Details and Benefits


  • Weekly rentals $180/week base rate (not including taxes, fees, fuel costs, or other additional charges) on midsized sedans, Toyota Corolla or similar. Rate only applies for rentals at approved Hertz locations and cannot be combined with any other discount or offer.
  • Authorization taken at time of rental for estimated rental charges plus $200 via credit card or debit card.†**

  • Uber driver-partner vehicles include unlimited mileage.
  • Minimum rental length is 7 days with maximum of 28 days (4 weeks). Weekly extensions can be done either in person or by phone with the original rental location. Vehicle must be returned to the original renting location no later than 28 days from date of rental.
  • Insurance/Protection: Hertz Loss Damage Waiver is included in the rental, and applies when off-app and when on-app in “Available” status.*
  • 24 hour advance reservation required.
  • All vehicle maintenance included.
  • 24 hour, 365 days a year Roadside Assistance.

Eligibility Requirements

Process


  • Sign up to drive at Uber.com and let them know you need a car. If you already have an account, log in at t.uber.com/findash.
  • Once you’re approved to drive on the platform, click to reserve a rental from Hertz. Partner will complete reservation on hertz.com
    • Select date and time for vehicle pick up and return (minimum 7 day reservation required, weekly extensions up to 28 days)
    • Confirm midsize vehicle
    • On reservation confirmation page enter name, e-mail, and phone number
  • You will receive automated email with an appointment confirmation from Hertz
  • Arrive at Hertz location at appointment time and provide reservation confirmation to Hertz rep
  • Bring credit or debit card†** and driver’s license to appointment
  • Sign rental agreement and pick up car

Do I need to book in advance?


Yes, a 24-hour advance reservation is required.


How old do I have to be to rent under this program?


You must be 25 years or older to qualify to rent under the Hertz Uber partner program.


Do I need to get a vehicle inspection?


No. - Hertz vehicles are already inspected and approved for use.


Can I sign on other authorized operators to drive the Hertz vehicle?


No. -You are the only one authorized to drive the vehicle under the Hertz Uber partner program.


Can I use my debit card or bank card to reserve a Hertz car?


At many Hertz locations, debit cards issued under a VISA or MasterCard logo which draw funds directly from the cardholder’s account may be used to qualify for rental.
However, prepaid or stored value cards which have a VISA or MasterCard logo are not accepted to qualify for rental. When a debit card is accepted as form of payment, at the start of the rental, two (2) forms of identification must be presented. Debit cards must have available funds for the estimated amount of the rental charges and any additional charges that may be incurred. Both debit cards and prepaid or stored value cards issued under a VISA or MasterCard logo may be used as a form of payment when you return the vehicle.


What kind of credit check is performed when I use my debit card?


The credit scoring process performed through the services of Equifax are very similar to the type of credit checks that are done when a person applies for credit. This credit check is done at the rental location when you arrive.


I've returned the Hertz vehicle. Why is there still a hold on my credit/debit card?


When the car is returned, a charge for the total amount due is submitted to your credit card or debit card company. Depending on the credit card or debit card company, there may be a delay between the time the charges are received and when the hold is released. The length of time this takes is not determined by Hertz. Since the card issuer is responsible for releasing authorization holds/funds back to their customers' accounts, you must contact the card issuer directly for assistance.


Why was the amount held on my credit/debit card more than the estimated rental costs?


An authorization is required based on the estimated rental charges. In order to cover incidental charges, such as extra hour charges if the vehicle is returned late, we may require an additional authorization for incremental charges that may be incurred. Approval for this additional amount cannot be waived. If authorization for the estimated amount cannot be obtained, the rental will be denied. These funds will not be available for your use.
Additional authorizations (holds) will also be obtained if the vehicle is not returned on the date/time noted on the Rental Agreement or if the original terms of the rental change which result in additional charges.


Can I use another person's credit or debit card for payment of my rental?


Charge cards and debit cards must be in the renter's name. The renter's name must be embossed on the front of the card.


Can I use more than one credit or debit card to pay for my rental?


No, you cannot split charges among different cards.


What credit cards does Hertz accept?


Hertz accepts American Express, MasterCard, Carte Blanche, Visa, Diners Club, Discover, Hertz Charge Card, JCB, Optima Amex, and some debit cards. Credit cards and debit/check cards must have available credit or available funds, for the estimated amount of rental charges and any additional charges that may be incurred. Stored value/prepaid/gift cards are not acceptable to qualify for rental, however these cards may be used for payment upon return.


*The Hertz Damage Waiver applies to damage to the vehicle itself in excess of $1,000 occurring while off-app or while on-app before accepting a request from a passenger. When off-app, Renter is responsible for any other liability incurred, subject to the minimum financial responsibility of Hertz. Uber provides additional coverage for on-app driving.
