Driving In and Around Manhattan

  • 1205 Bluemont Ave Parking (66502) is open 24/7, close to Kansas State University and the stores and restaurants of Aggieville.
  • Parking Lot C (66502) is an all-day public parking lot for your rental car, near to Manhattan Town Center.
  • On-street parking can be found across Downtown and Aggieville, including along Poyntz Avenue. Check the signage for any permit or time limits.

 

  • US Route 24 (US 24) connects Kansas with Colorado and Missouri. It runs along Manhattan’s eastern edge, from where it leads to Topeka and Kansas City. Renting a car means you don’t have to rely on buses, trams, trains, taxis or anything else. You’re in control.
  • Kansas 18 (KS 18) branches north from the I-70, passing Manhattan Regional Airport and Stagg Hill Golf Club on its way into the city.
  • Interstate 70 (I-70) runs south of Manhattan and cuts through Topeka and Lawrence in the east and Junction City and Salina to the west.

 

How to Get From Manhattan to Fort Riley

It takes 30 minutes to drive the 17 miles from downtown Manhattan to Fort Riley with a holiday or business car rental:

  1. Leave the city to the west via Poyntz Avenue.
  2. Turn left on South 17 Street to merge on to the KS 18 West.
  3. Follow the highway for seven miles, then exit on to the KS 114.
  4. Cut through Ogden on Huebner Road, then keep right to join Williston Point Road.
  5. After three miles, turn left on to Division Road, then right on to Tuttle Avenue.
  6. At the end of the road, turn left then right on to Thomas Avenue to reach Fort Riley.  

 

How to Get From Manhattan to Topeka

The state capital is just an hour’s drive from Manhattan with your rental car. Just head south of the city along the KS 177 to join the I-70 East. After 48 miles, take Exit 362B into downtown Topeka.
