Driving In and Around Martinsburg

  • Metered street parking can be found across Downtown. Charges apply between Monday and Friday, while free parking is available on weekends for your car rental.
  • Electric vehicle charging stations are available at East Burke Street (25403) parking lot and the Tesla Supercharger (25401), located just north of the city center.

 

Traffic can build up along Interstate 81, which cuts through Martinsburg towards Hagerstown. This is usually at its busiest during rush hour, between 7am and 9am, then 4pm and 6pm weekdays.

 

  • Interstate 81 (I-81) runs from New York to Tennessee and through western Martinsburg. Use this to reach Hagerstown to the north and Shenandoah National Park to the south.
  • Interstate 70 (I-70) can be accessed via the I-81 North. From there, you can head east towards Baltimore or west along the Maryland and West Virginia state line.
  • U.S. 11 is another major north-south highway, that passes through the center of Martinsburg. It follows the I-81 closely, reaching as far north as the Canadian border and further south to Louisiana.

 

Martinsburg to Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. is little more than 90 miles from Martinsburg via the I-81, I-70 and I-270. It can take around an hour-and-a half to complete this journey south-east in your rental car.

 

Martinsburg to Baltimore

The route to Baltimore also takes around 90 minutes from Martinsburg in a car rental. Leave the city using the I-81, then merge onto the I70 East. You’ll eventually need to take the I-695 and I-95 to reach the city center.
