Driving In and Around Midland

  • 800 Joe Mann Boulevard Parking (48642) is in the north of the city, close to Midland Mall, Midland Soccer Club and Midland County Fairgrounds.
  • Larkin Parking Garage (48640) has 50 metered spaces on the first floor for your rental car, plus others for long-term lease.
  • Downtown parking is sometimes available free for up to three hours – look out for signposted on-street spots.

 

  • Michigan 47 (M-47) is a state trunkline highway which leads from Freeland – and MBS International Airport – to Midland in the north and Saginaw in the south.
  • US Route 10 (US-10) leads east from Midland to Bay City. West, this highway takes you to Clare, Reed City and Ludington on Lake Michigan.
  • Interstate 75 (I-75) is a major highway between Midland and Detroit. It continues south to Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee – but you can also take this road north into the fabled Atlanta State Forest Area in Michigan’s most remote quarters.

 

How to Get From Freeland’s MBS International Airport to Downtown Midland

It takes 20 minutes to drive the 13 miles from MBS International Airport to downtown Midland in your Midland rental car.

  1. Leave the car rental parking lot at Freeland’s Airport, then follow the one-way system until you reach Garfield Road.
  2. Turn right, then stay on Garfield Road for about 10 minutes.
  3. Take a left on to US-10.
  4. Use Exit 12B to join US-10 West, then follow Patrick Road and Indian Street towards the city center.
  5. At the lights, take a left on to Jerome Street to reach the heart of Downtown.

 

How to Get From Midland to Detroit

Detroit is just a two-hour drive from our Midland rental car location. Just use US-10 to reach I-75, then head south. At Detroit, join the I-375 which will take you to Downtown.
