The city of Detroit has experience some tough decades recently, but in recent years has started to rev up their once run-down areas to bring about a new cultural center in the Mid-west. In the city where the automobile was invented, you'll want to rent a car. While traffic does exist during rush hour, you'll be please to know that the Motor City is one of the most auto-friendly cities in North America.
In downtown Detroit, you'll find ample parking around the tourist attractions. The city has renovated historic theaters which now host traveling Broadway shows and musical entertainment. You'll be transported into the past when taking in a show at the Redford Theater or Fox Theater. Nearby you'll find your pick of major league sports including the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings (oh my!). One unique aspect of Detroit is their large Greek population. Greektown is not only the perfect place for a traditional meal, but is now a popular place to go out in the evenings.
Just a short trip outside of downtown Detroit is Dearborn, Michigan is the Henry Ford Museum. This is a must-see attraction because of Ford's impact on the city itself. The facility includes a classic car museum and factory tour.
