Overtoom is a street in the Amsterdam district of West. If you arrange car hire from Overtoom 333, you’ll find it stands between the A10 outer ring road and the S100 inner ring road to the south-west of the city centre. This makes it easy to drive to all sectors of the city. West itself is mainly a leafy residential area of red-brick period houses with shops and cafes lining the street. Just behind the shops, look out for the huge 19th-century Vondelpark green space, which houses a playground, ponds and a popular open-air theatre. But you’re within easy reach of many of Amsterdam’s top attractions and landmarks.
The biggest attraction near Overtoom is the Van Gogh Museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of the artist’s paintings, drawings and letters. Rent a car from Overtoom 333, and you can explore much further afield. The Dutch capital is a large, modern city so the attractions can range widely, for example, from the Heineken Experience – an interactive museum about beer – to Anne Frank’s House, the restored home of the tragic Second World War teenage diarist. And as you drive round the city, note the memorable proliferation of two other great sights of Amsterdam: the canals and the cyclists.
