A Quick Guide to Philadelphia

Philadelphia Museum of Art

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is a cultural beacon, nestled in the picturesque Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Head inside to witness artistic jewels from the likes of modernism painter Georgia O’Keeffe, Impressionist founder Claude Monet and pop art creator Andy Warhol.

Outside, you might recognize the 72 so-called Rocky Steps, which the fictional boxer Rocky Balboa ran up in the 1976 film Rocky – something most visitors replicate today. If you’re travelling to the Philadelphia Museum of Art by rental car, you can park your car free for the first hour.

Philadelphia Zoo

Just outside the city, Philadelphia Zoo is America’s first zoo and a great day out for the whole family. There are more than 1,200 animals and 13 exhibits to explore, from big cats and bears to tiny reptiles and exotic birds.

Love Park

In the heart of Philly, John F Kennedy Plaza, known as Love Park plays host to a number of events throughout the year. The plaza’s nickname derives from Robert Indiana’s LOVE statue, which sits proudly in the plaza’s square. Head here on a weekday when Lunch in LOVE is in town, an alternating line-up of delicious local food trucks.

Independence National Historical Park

Wander the impressive grounds of Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park, also known as the birthplace of American democracy. Here, you’ll see landmarks such as the Liberty Bell and the Independence Hall, as well as the Museum of the American Revolution.

Betsy Ross House

Philadelphia is also where the first American flag was sewn by seamstress Betsy Ross in 1776. Guests can tour her house to get a sense of what life was like in 18th-century Philadelphia and Betsy’s role in the American Revolution.

Benjamin Franklin Museum

Learn about the life and creations of one of the Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin, at this interactive museum. Discover his writings, inventions and personal possessions and see the famous ghost house.
