Driving from Strasbourg to Colmar takes around an hour and is just south of the city via the A35 freeway.

Once you’ve picked up your keys, you’re only a 20-minute drive from the city center via the A35 freeway. It’s worth noting that it can be difficult to park in the very heart of the city as part of it is only open to pedestrians.
You’ll find on-street parking spots in the surrounding area though. These are color-coded, with red and orange indicating you can park for up to two hours and green indicating a maximum of three hours. Costs vary depending on which zone you park in, with green being the cheapest and red the most expensive.
When you’re traveling around Strasbourg in your rental car, you should note that the French drive on the right-hand side of the road. What’s more, speed limits can vary according to the weather. Otherwise, in normal weather conditions, it’s 130km/h (around 80mph) on freeways, 80km/h (49mph) on other roads and 50km/h (31mph) in built-up areas.
